CornwallRam
Does that mean 5 substitutions allowed or going back to 5 on the bench?
RadioactiveWaste
It's a no from me. Preferably reduce the subs to 2 per game. It's 11 v 11 not 11(+5) v 11 (+5).

I'm not sure now you've mentioned it. My first thought was 5 substitutions as per last season post-lockdown. I'm fairly certain it'll be the latter. Rammy03
Don't like this at all. It will change the course of individual games far too much. You're effectively bringing half a team off the bench. The other problem with this is that is that it favours the better teams with bigger squads, allowing them to bring more top players off the bench. It makes the gap in quality even bigger and will overall just dilute the competition.

Well said I am in total agreement and personally I wish we still had the time when you weren’t allowed any or at a push just one !

B4ev6is
You could argue that 5 subs were if losing the game you can bring more pace and power trying to win the game.
Millenniumram
I think it’s the right move personally, as a temporary measure for the next year. The fixture schedule is definitely busier than it’s ever been, so we need to put something in place to reduce the number of injuries. It’s not really been a problem for us, because our players haven’t even been trying, but for most teams I’m fairly sure I read there’s been a big increase in muscle injuries. Allowing more subs will mean less players have to play the full 90, which should reduce muscle fatigue, and help keep players fully fit.

EnigmaRam
With the schedule and number of injuries I don’t see an issue personally. Also potentially gives fringe players or players that just warm the bench forever an opportunity to get minutes under his belt
Coneheadjohn
5 subs but when you want to make one the opposing manager gets to pick who comes on.

Do you want to put money on them agreeing to go back to 3 subs next season? Once this changes it will be permanent - and the way things are going they’ll be pushing for a bigger bench and wanting to bring in specialist free kick and penalty takers in a few years.... we’re on the slippery slope and it doesn’t end well for anyone other than the big clubs
