Just saw that in the Stoke game against Wigan yesterday Tom Ince managed just one pass in the 56 minutes + injury time that he was on the pitch
It wasn't because he kept shooting either, he didn't manage a shot
Don't know what's happened to the lad

I didn't believe you so I had to check for myself... and you're correct. 1 completed passes (out of 3 attempted) and 0 accurate crosses (1 attempted). 2 unsafe touches (miscontrolled it), 0 shots and 0 dribbles, and 2 fouls committed.

So he touched it about 6 times in almost an hour!? And gets paid how much for that?!

I'm most amazed at the stat that he had 0/1 successful crosses, that means he actually attempted a cross!

What's 'happened' to him is that he's found himself at yet another club who aren't willing (or able) to base all of their play around passing to and creating space for him.

Stoke are a very pedestrian team, few runners off the ball, so when he gets the ball for them it's rarely within 30 yards of the opposition goal and instead of space ahead of him opening up, it's closing down. He simply can't play in those conditions! He's not a winger, he hasn't got any great pace, his vision and awareness of his teammates is poor so he just ends up running inside (as always), not seeing any passing options, and losing the ball.

Rest assured though that even this season, this hasn't stopped him for the umpteenth time in his career having more shots at goal than any of his teammates. It is a closer run thing this year and he's only managed 65 shots, unlike last season when his 102 shots (for 6 goals) was followed by James McClean on 66!  (or his best season here when his 129 shots was more than double the number of shots 2nd placed Butterfield had).

He's the exact same player he always was!

It's no surprise his goal tally is so pitiful at the minute, is it? He's a very wasteful player and now he's being robbed of the opportunity to do the one thing he thrives upon, because those he's alongside aren't good ,or selfless, enough to provide him with the sort of opportunities he needs.

Hold on now, Tom Lawrence might be suspended, but he’s not an ex ram yet.
