I seriously hope he is right and with a bit of luck, the deal is 100% dead.

This bloke is looking to run Derby with somebody elses money rather than his own and doesn't give a toss about the club.

Nailed it.

Wow

the podcast tells us the backer is SO high profile and has SO much wonga that he wants anonymity. So he has a front, a highly respected Sheikh (Dr Sheikh in fact). Might explain the 2bn bid for Liverpool

And you guys are crying out for Peter Gadsby !!!

My only concern was that the backer was Mansour.

I’m dying for that 30% to come through,  so long as it’s the same backer

Ex backer - so it might as well have been Chewbacca

And this mysterious billionaire backer has what motivation to buy us and stay silent?

Is there any evidence whatsoever that Mel is ill or is this simply a wild rumour spread by people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 7 or 8?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6770519/Derby-County-sale-cards-owner-Mel-Morris-seeks-exit.html

"And, it is understood, there is also a so-far confidential personal matter that is persuading him to consider finding a new owner for the club."

..also I swear on my life it was mentioned in an article in the past year, I think it might have been on The Athletic or maybe it was somewhere discussing the EFL case, that he'd had a small operation/proceedure done. Can I find it anywhere online now? Can I buggery.

I posted this mid-December

"When he tried to buy Liverpool back in August 2019, the Liverpool ECHO reported that the proposal from from Sheik Khaled didn't get past the vetting stage with New York-based boutique investment bank Allen & Company.

It was judged the offer was neither credible nor worthwhile to be put forward to major shareholders John W Henry and Mike Gordon".

Obviously Mel would have used a specialist financial company to handle the mechanics of the deal, to suggest he would and could have done is own due diligence is fanciful, whatever happens he could now sue for breach of contract, but hey that did not get the sheiks lawyers anywhere did it.

I would implore Mel give up on this "deal" to the mysterious billionaire.

From Rooney's presser coverage on the DET: "It’s (takeover) is very close, that is the information I have been given. My understanding is I will be able to bring in players before the window closes."

I've lost count how many times he's been told that. He's being treated like a kid on the back seat asking "are we there yet"?

Still a bit baffled as to why we announced Rooney as permanent manager - didnt he say he had been given certain assurances that the takeover was in place

I'm sure someone like WR won't be talking about handshakes or verbal agreements here - it'd be a contractual assurance.

Remains to be seen what happens with WR if the takeover doesn't happen.
