Trouble is, I have difficulty believing the rest of a story, when one simple claim is so glaringly wrong. Our latest set of accounts show a wage bill of just under £4m per month. Since then we have got rid of virtually all of the major earners and replaced them with Rooney and maybe one other.

To be fair I think the host was just speculating, the £7m wage figure wasn't stated by the journalist he had on the podcast. I'm guessing the host has just read £7m somewhere on Twitter or the daily m*il. Surely he could have done a bit of quick maths before recording the podcast to realise that the figure is way out though

The biggest invester has pulled out, Sheikh Khaled is the 3rd Cousin of the Man City owner, Sheikh Khaled is a nice personable Man,   Financial Times/The Athletic knew he wasn't a Billionaire, DCFC didn't do due diligence on Sheikh Khaled to see if he was who they THOUGHT he was, Money is scarce in Abu Dhabi as it is around the world, Confident that the deal is about 70% in doubt, Most likely hoping that MM is thinking Sheikh Khaled can find another invester, Aware that there could be other investers out there...MSD, Gadsby et al.

So there we have it...We're still waiting.

How can we not do due diligence on a potential buyer...beggars believe if true.

No way is our wage bill over 70 million a month. Think uts more 3 million a month wages

£7m a month is £84m over a year the last time I checked 😉

In 17/18, player wages (excluding social security and pensions) were just over £35m (less than £3m pm). Total group employee costs (wages, social security, pensions, etc) came to just under £47m (just under £4m pm). Given our transfers since that season, I'll be surprised if costs have gone up.

In: Waghorn, Marriott, Jozefzoon, Holmes, Malone, Evans, Bielik, Shinnie, Rooney, Jozwiak, Ibe, Marshall, Byrne, Kazim, Clarke (loan)
Out: Vydra, Weimann, Shackell, Jerome, Bent, Baird, Ledley, Nugent, Butterfield, Blackman, Pearce, Johnson, Bryson, Thorne, Keogh, Olsson, Martin, Anya, Huddlestone

I would hope by now player wages are below £24m and total costs getting close (or below) £30m per season (£2m and £2.5m pm respectively)

I find it incredible that people are so quick to believe what the Daily Mail says and just assume that business executives like Mel Morris & Stephen Pearce wouldn't carry out due diligence on the prospective buyer of their multi-million pound business.

It wasn't from the Daily Mail...it was from the link to the pod cast on page 413, An interview with Salam Hafez...Derby Fan and middle east Journalist, he said the Financial times and the Athletic both new he wasn't the person SOME PEOPLE thought he was, And surprised that DCFC who he thinks employs someone to read national news papers and social media that they didn't pick up on what some were saying in print.

As an aside, I would find it also hard to believe the above, But given what we've been told not told so far...smoke and fire come to mind.

Whilst I understand what you are saying, hence the caveat with if true.

However, given we are mid January, the takeover is even to the uneducated looking more unlikely as each day passes, something is holding this up.

The assumption (not sure where there came from) is that the funds were transferred, now this doesn't appear to be correct any more, the club are refusing to give any further updates and it could be that one or more of the investors have pulled out. Given funds were not in place for wages, then I'd also assume that this hold up has come as a bit of a surprise to the club.

Now we come to the DD, if we are to believe the noise that came out the club, SR was allowed to sign off certain things that went unnoticed by Mel and the FD. In addition, AP said he wasn't involved in certain aspects of the takeover, Mel was dealing with this. Finally, this is someone, who has failed with 2 takeovers prior to this and we are looking down the barrel of a THIRD.

So whilst definitely not the most reliable source, it's also not the most unbelievable.

Can't say I believe this, there's just more guessing going on under the ITK foreign banner!

In all honesty neither do I. But then as above post, nothing would surprise me with this club at the moment 😳

Except that the highlighted bit originates from the Daily Mail which the presenter was referring to when asking Salam for his thoughts.

We amateurs all knew that Khaled was only a distant cousin of Mansoor (despite what the media were saying!) so if WE knew then it's inconceivable that MM & Pearce wouldn't know!

I don't read the Mail so i'll take you at your word that this originated from the Mail.

The Newcastle fan around the start of this thread told us all he wasn't what some were saying...even printing his photo, Some poo pood him some believed him on here, I'll hazard a guess that the Geordie is right.

Salam Hafez also said you'd have to be a specialist in the acestory field to understand the where with all concerning this family, So if MM and SP looked into all this then they knew who they were dealing with, If they didn't then as you say...it's inconceivable
