If you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember Cannon & Ball.

Bobby Ball died. He was in recent years playing Lee Mack’s dad in Not Going Out.

First Eddie Large, now Bobby Ball. Looks like being part of a comedy double act is no protection from this virus.

He was the "cheeky chappy" to Tommy cannon's straight guy.

One of a succession of unfunny 1980s double acts.........

But RIP Tommy.

It was a different kind of humour then. Looking back it wasn’t that funny. But the competition wasn’t there with only three and then four TV channels. It was very formulaic and lacked creativity. Thinking back, impressions/tributes were the backbone of prime time TV!

You say that but their shows were on the prime time Saturday evening slot and ran for 11 seasons. So a lot of people found them funny by default.

He was so good playing the Dad. Very funny. And I liked Tommy Cannon for no other reason than his real name was Tommy Derbyshire

Used to love Cannon & Ball when I was a kid. However thought he was brilliant as the Dad in not going out, his come backs to comments from Lee Macks wife’s old man were great to watch. RIP
