Harry Wilson - gone to Cardiff on a season long loan

Wilson can perform magic, moments out of nothing. Anyone saying we don't need him is deluded.

Ibe/Jozwiak        Lawerence/Sibley            Wilson

That attackig midfield option is mouthwatering.

Also, if we dont get him, he will go to a rival and perform his magic there, get him in

and block Sibley's progression, directly going against how we've said our transfer policy will operate from now on?

Sibley isnt going to be in the starting 11 week in and week out, they key to youth is when you do or dont play them. Imo Sibley isnt good enough to start every game yet, he has been found out since his burst onto the scene.

Not adverse to this, though I wouldn’t want him at the cost of a striker.

Depending how we rotate players it could be effective as Rooney can’t play every match, so being able to alternate Rooney and Wilson so we always had a free kick threat would be a nice position to be in.

Though that said, I can’t see Rooney giving up all free kick duties, so we wouldn’t get the same goal return out of Wilson as his loan spell if they’re on the pitch at the same time.

I think Rooney would share as he wants to win and he's he has let waghorn take a couple in the past, it just be like mount and Wilson both over it keeper ain't going to have a clue where to put his wall or stand

Can you quote where I said he wasn't a good player, nor he'd be a good addition? I'm questioning how effective he is as a winger from open play. Stop Wilson scoring and he becomes ineffective, teams found this much easier to do in the 2nd half of 18/19 and there was many a game where Wilson was fairly anonymous.

Still not saying he's a bad player, just that he needs to offer more from open play, certainly i'd expect better than 3 assists from our 1st choice...

You’ve already been proved wrong by another poster which shows he can beat people and is a good carrier of the ball. Teams will target top players to stop them playing, that’s the art of defending. Saying he’s fairly anonymous have you seen much of Lawrence taking games by the scruff of the neck? No. But in your previous post you suggested Lawrence as being one of the wingers/ creaters. Wilson offers far more in open play and in dead ball situations. Wilson’s contribution in one season where it’s relatively hard to settle straight in compared to how many seasons Lawrence has had, I know who I’d rather have. You don’t really have a point. Wilson is a dead ball specialist. Scores goals and has some assists. Yes he could do with having more but you can say that about any Derby midfielder / winger. If Wilson came back he’d be a damn sight better that Lawrence and a lot of other of our wingers

Lawrence as well to consider. I'd happily have Wilson and think he'd probably get 10-15 goals again at this level, suppose it's just trepidation because I have very high hopes for Jozwiak and Ibe and if they are as good as I suspect they may be, Wilson as a loanee doesn't get into the side

Think I'm just worried that it'd be a travesty if Wilson came in, didn't perform and yet we're forced to play him due to Liverpool's loan stipulations while Sibley gets far less gametime as a result. Chances are Wilson would improve us, just reading some Bournemouth comments unsettled me a bit I think ?

He hasn't been found out he's been doubled up on. Other teams see him as a threat and they're absolutely right to. With Ibe and Joz moving into the side, teams are going to have a lot more to worry about. That's before we even think about the likes Bielik, Lawrence and Waggy being available again. A month from now, Louie will be finding all sorts of space and will be running absolute riot. Quote me, screenshot me @me.

I haven't been proved wrong since I've been asking for that substantiation the whole time, you were just incapable of providing it yourself apparently, says more about you than me ?

Wilson is gonna cost £3/4m-ish just to loan for the season and there's a chance we may be forced into playing him for a % of minutes. I'm simply weighing up risk v reward rather than get swept up in the hype. He disappeared in the biggest game of our season, Bournemouth fans aren't won over and he had plenty of games where he was totally ineffective v wand of a left foot, dead ball specialist and can get goals from nothing (similar to Lawrence)

I'll maintain my original stance, I'd be happy if we got him but I'm also perfectly content if we don't

As for Harry, just come home lad. Swansea's known to be a pretty sh1tty city whereas Derby is just a tad crap. You'll get to train with Wayne Rooney who is almost Welsh and dying to meet your mum and you know the fans here love you. Easy call really! ?

Nothing wrong with that.

A £2m loan fee is not a lot different (financially speaking) to a £10m signing on a 5 year contract.

Obviously we don't have the player at the end of year 1, but equally we have no ongoing liability at the end of year 1 either... there's many a player we've signed over recent years that we'd rather have taken on a 1 year loan!

In Harry's case we know what we're getting so (say) a £2m loan fee + a £10m option to purchase would be preferable.

That was my assumption the other day. Almost certainly the case isn't it.

I'm pretty sure having someone who is as attacking minded and drives the ball forward as Wilson would be welcome in this team. That is the one key thing we need more of, attack-minded players who just want to carry the ball forwards.

I think we would have too many players in the same mould want to play in same positions if we brought Wilson in on loan/buy. Unless of course the club have plans to sell others out

You are looking at it in an ideal situation. Players get injured or drop in and out of form. They get suspensions, they need resting because of busy calenders, etc.

Lawrence and Waghorn haven't played this season yet. Holmes is injured all the time. Marriott gets injured and only fits in to one position. Ibe is building his fitness up.

With a false 9 formation for example, we have Rooney, Waghorn, Sibley, Knight, Lawrence, Jozwaik, Ibe and Whiticker and also hopefully Wilson, who can all play in several of those front 4 positions.

9 players. If we played that way, 4 would start, 2/3 on the bench. That means 2 not playing. Over the course of the season, it's reasonable to assume 2 will always be injured or suspended or needing a break.

Plenty of games in a season.

Goals win games

Wilson scores goals

Lawrence might and occasionally does

ibe never has scored goals has he ?

Jozawicz - doesn’t look like a goal scorer

if we can get him - get him the rest can fill up any spare places in the team

Always thought Ibe looked like a goal threat for us, this cracker is my fav and the one v Reading (i think) where he dances through about 3 player before slamming it high at the near post
