Gee SCREAMER !!
Just watching MOD and some lad for Arsenal has just scored. He 19 and appears he broke into the Arsenal team last year . He's played about 30 games. On 4 September 2020, Saka made his debut for England U21s during a 6-0 victory away to Kosovo. On 1 October 2020, Saka was called up to the England senior squad for the first time, ahead of their matches against Wales, Belgium and Denmark. I can remember when a player generally had to play 2-3 years at a very good standard to be considered for international call up. Caps nowadays are given out like sweets. He only played 1 game for the U21'S a month ago. A full cap should be the pinnacle of a players career. Why are international caps so valueless nowadays. May as well use them for toilet paper . No value at all.

In fairness to Saka, he probably won't get a cap and may be being brought into the squad to get a feel of international football, similar to what we've done by bringing some of the U18s to train with the first team squad. It's no surprise Saka is in the squad as the competition isn't great. Chilwell's been a bit of an idiot, so Saka may even make his debut, unless Southgate opts to play Trippier there again. Anon
It's just the way modern international football is nowadays. It's pretty silly, but you have to tie anyone with dual nationality down before anyone else gets to them. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/sports/football/417880-arsenals-bukayo-saka-chooses-england-over-nigeria.html "Saka, 19, had initially suggested he could consider playing for Nigeria even though he had featured for the English youth teams since he is proud of his parents’ heritage." Alph
Southgate has been a pundit so he knows the sort of "interesting" facts they come up with for filler He knows in 10 years an England team will have made a world Cup final and it will be said that Southgate gave caps to 8 of them. I mean sure, he won't be manager but whatever.
