May Contain Nuts
32 minutes ago, Tyler Durden said: @GenBr has saved me a post and put into words far more succinctly than I could have managed. In a nutshell it's irrelevant whether I think Morris was lying or not the salient point is he's not daft or unprofessional enough to start sharing this information if he was with radio stations. If you don't think that people say one thing then act differently then you're very naive which I dont believe you are. ..and the same response applies. Nobody has said that people don't say one thing and then act differently. Look at Gary Rowett and his comments about the type of player he wanted to sign! That wasn't dealing in absolutes, however. There's a big difference between not revealing information and outright lying though. If you state something as a fact, which Morris did, and then go back on your word it only reflects badly on you. There are many different levels of 'untruths' and open deception, and you can draw many different conclusions based upon what is, and what isn't said. I could equally talk about naivety - Morris has learned (well, presumably) the hard way that comments you've made can come back to haunt you. Do you think he's naive enough to think that he can go on the radio and talk in absolutes about the outcome of one match and then go back in what he said without a major backlash? Obviously not, because you've just claimed he's "not daft or unprofessional enough to start sharing this information"! Somebody who doesn't want to "start sharing information" is generally very coy in their answers, not trying to give anything away. You get half answers, deliberate stated in a way which could be interpreted in a variety of ways. Not definitive statements. Drawing the conclusion that he's likely to sack the manager based on today's game, taking into consideration all of the factors we know, can have a good guess at, or can't possibly have any clue about at all still seems a bit silly to me. It stinks of unnecessary drama!

Jourdan
I have to say as well that Joao Pedro’s goal also underlined why there was such clamour for Harry Wilson. How many games this season will follow a similar pattern? Tightly contested and largely forgettable, and decided by a moment of quality. Maybe 50-60%. Possibly more. When you are creating so little - just 3-4 reasonable chances a game - a player that can produce something out of nothing is worth their weight in gold. I think we only have Lawrence and potentially Ibe who could have such an impact. That is worrying because creativity already looks a crippling issue and we’re only 5 games in. The decision not to sign a midfielder still looks just as much a glaring error as not replacing Martin.
S8TY
I haven't trolled through the posts on here so apologies if this has already been mentioned but....I thought Rooney did well tonight as a holding striker, if that had been a new signing we would've been pleased with his lay offs hold up play clever chest passes and general play so just wanted to say he did well. yes he missed a chance from a great through ball but looking at it again the defender did very well. It was also very noticeable when Lawrence started to play and we looked a threat and when we have Ibe,Lawrence and Jozwiak and Knight more central and Beilik back i think we'll get results. We made Watford look very average and only a fantastic goal was the difference, I don't remember Marshall making a save and we will be an all together different proposition with more attacking options, actually thought we played well without the all important punch up top. Yes there was some good team play this evening but will the players who are to come back / start for the first time be able to make a difference in our ability to score goals? Don't think so. No one is denying this but some of the comments were pathetic. I get it, we’re upset and we’re hurting because it never doesn’t hurt watching Derby lose. Just think that the same people saying we played so poorly would have been there with the ‘solid point against a strong expensive relegated team’ had we got the point our performance deserved. make no mistake Watford came to stink the place out - they’ve only conceded once this season. I know it’s not the be all and end all but our expected goals was higher than there’s last night so on balance we definitely deserved a point. In fact the probability of their goal being scored was 3% so you have to take your hat off to a brilliant strike... Blackburn was the appropriate game to be miserable and completely dejected. Last night was just how football goes.
IlsonDerby
I know it isn’t everyone’s favourite metric but I always use it to see whether a shoreline was fair. We created more than them. They scored a goal that had a 3% probability of being scored. A moment of magic. Rooney should score his chance. Holmes should do better with his chance. Evans should have called to Davies to have a free header at the far post. Last season those efforts from Lawrence were hitting the back of the net. We have Lawrence, Kamil, Waghorn(who people might not think will sort the goal scoring problems but he plays that lone striker role better than anyone else in the club), Ibe and Sibley to come back as options up top. We’ve got Bielik to come back to play a holding role which means we don’t have to play 3 at the back which instantly makes our formation more attacking. Lawrence possibly but that’s it. Our tactics are so predictable virtually every single club in the Championship knows how to set up against us. Watford had half their first team missing last night and looked bang average to me but still won. I just don’t see the attacking options we have making much of an impact while we play this style of football.

We all understand that there had to be a lot of squad turnover this season, but to have Ibe, Duncan and Richards not ready to play a part in the 1st team squad yet is terrible planning. If Cocu has nothing to do with transfers, he must be on the verge of handing in his resignation. Dutch people in business are not scared of a bit of confrontation and straight talking, perhaps there is a bit of friction behind the scenes. Swansea made the play offs with the exact same number of goals as us, Fulham got promoted with 2 more. I don't get your point. We're missing two attacking players that accounted for almost half our league goals last season. They might not make us world beaters but to rubbish the opinion that we're not missing them is ridiculous IMO.

Shuff264
I've slept on it and still think we were ok. We feel like Norwich did two weeks ago. If you'd offered me 3pts from playing Norwich and Watford I'd have taken it. I think it's time we were l return to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 I'm just really looking forward to having Lawrence, Jozwiak, Bielik, Waghorn, Ibe and Sibley all fit and available

Read back the Rooney/Gregory thread and tell me how many posters actually come out of it with their dignity intact? That thread was absolutely rife with people twisting every little thing they could find into a way of making a story in The Sun (of all bloody places) into a factual article. Those are the people I'm thinking of with the laughing emoji. Physician heal thyself! The guy on Sky last night actually made a point of saying they'd checked up on the 'rumour' and thought it was (I've forgotten the exact term) believable. The Sun have decent journos. But neither of those points necessarily make it true. Just as your post doesn't make it necessarily false.

What we’ve tried in the past two games was obviously with the strong opposition in mind and stopping the rot in mind. For 75 minutes, it worked tonight. We were undone by a moment of quality but otherwise did Watford look like scoring? They looked beyond average. Both keepers could have got their pyjamas on and taken a nap, by and large. Rooney takes the simplest of chances, it ends 1-1, and we would have looked back at 4 points well earned in troubled times. Obviously that didn’t happen. There will be no justification for a performance like that v Huddersfield. If we don’t see a massive improvement, a more positive, more exciting and braver approach, as well as a positive result midweek, it’s looking like Cocu will need to produce something special against Forest to have any hope of saving his job. If it ends up being 6 defeats in 7 as is fairly possible, I don’t see any Championship manager surviving that kind of start to the season. Yes i have to agree with your points, even the three points we gained at Norwich was a free kick in the last couple of minutes so we could of been sat on just the one point from that game otherwise I agree with what most are saying lets see were we are when all our best 11 are fit but when as our best 11 ever been fit not for seasons there as always been some one not available,Nice to see Tom back last night and thats a start but i still have worries were our goals are going to come from,we have just signed a free transfer target man who is a journeyman player at best I am starting to have concerns about Cocu for sure and the next two games are massive especially if we get tonked by the scum . No, what makes it false is that it was clearly complete horseshit and anyone with a half a brain and basic powers of deduction should really have been able to spot that. John Gregory FFS! Instead they made up scenarios in their head and spouted a load of poo almost willing it to be true. It doesn't really matter what some bloke on Sky who has no real interest in or knowledge about Derby beyond the bare minimum he requires to do his job has to say. Sky are also part of the problem, they're complicit in spreading poo as much as anyone.
RadioactiveWaste
the sports media just really really really want their "Rooney becomes manager" story. There's probably hundreds of articles been drafted about it already with "insert club/date/who he replaced" left highlighted. They're all preped to put out hundreds of column inches on their opinions of it. Team, owner and manger not happy because results are poo but all knuckle down and work hard to make it better just isn't a story thats gonna get clicks.
