Getting the pair tied down to long term contracts was one of the most important things we needed to do this summer. Delighted that it’s all sorted. They are first team regulars & deserve to be paid as such. Had it not been addressed, it could have caused friction & dissatisfaction - a good proactive move by the club. Also more encouragement for the young lads behind them in the pecking order. Play well & work hard, get in the team & the club will make sure you get paid your worth. I'm glad that they have signed but arent you falling into the trap of over hyping our youngsters? Bird has had half a decent season and you're describing him as one of the league best midfielders and Sibley has had 4 or 5 decent matches and you say he is heading that way too? In their interview they've got last season's squad numbers and training tops on so it looks like the deals were completed well over a month ago at least.
