Charlton need to be bought by new owners before the start of the 2020/21 season on September 12 to avoid expulsion from the Football League after 3 of their owners failed the EFL directors and owners test and are therefore disqualified from owning the club.....

How can they have become owners before the test was applied? I thought they had to get approval before they could complete the transaction.

We have sanctioned the sale to this lot. Now changed our mind.  We will protect your status as a club going forward by deciding we should make you extinct rather than have an owner who may not be able to fund you going forward and may or my not do that in the future.

EFL cutting out the middle man then .  Here' Rick doing his shopping

So, the EFL sanctions the takeover and later decides that the new owners aren't actually suitable and ban them! What a brilliant idea. Perhaps they could sanction transactions within clubs, allowing say an owner to buy the ground at a fair and reasonable price. Even suggesting that the price be adjusted slightly. Then, several months later they can change their minds and decide said transaction wasn't within the rules and take action against the club. That would be a brilliant plan. If only someone (preferably a jealous owner of another club) could come up with that plan.

Steve Gibson won't be happy with the efl. He'll be complaining that they should be concentrating on sanctioning as many championship teams as possible. How else are Middlesbrough going to finish in the top six this coming season.

Not too many good owners have come into the game in recent years, certainly more bad ones than good, but I hope this all works out for Charlton. They've had a good supporter base feel dethatched from their club for far too long. They have a great spot for a top academy to prevail too. They used to have a lot of good players breakthrough there!
