Might be a few at Everton too! This scenario ring any bells?!

Quote

Ratcliffe said: "Recruitment has let Everton down. They have spent over the odds and paid ridiculous wages for average players.

"The club has been mismanaged with the managers appointed. How did Marco Silva get the Everton job? Where on his CV in the Premier League did it say he was right for that job? He took Hull City down and faded at Watford after a good start.

"You look at Gylfi Sigurdsson being signed for £45m. He was signed as a number 10 and is then played on the left wing because Everton already had two number 10s in Wayne Rooney and Davy Klaassen. Where was the thinking there?"

Ancelotti and Brands now have a bloated squad where so much deadwood has been assembled some cynics have suggested the club's Finch Farm training HQ is in danger of being labelled a fire hazard.

Who will take Sigurdsson, Fabian Delph, Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott and even Alex Iwobi, signed for an eye-watering £34m from Arsenal on deadline day last summer?

Lol!

Thats pretty brutal from Ratcliffe. Sounds right though. I think Walcott has always been massively overrated and the fact he even plays for Everton shows he still is. He's a try hard. He's the vague threat of a ball over the top/down the wing. He's made a career out of a promise to one day be any good. Crying about being a natural striker but has never showed an instinct for goal.

Iwobi for £34m. Ouch.

Will Everton ever do anything interesting ever again though? For a club so well established you would think on the odd season they would trouble somebody for something.

Waiting for the inevitable appointment of Eddie Howe at some point in the next 6 months.

I think they did when they lured the current manager.

Okay, it's not THAT interesting.

And he quickly slotted in to Everton nothingness. I hope he knows every year that he's there more and more people will google his name to find out where he went after Napoli

You convinced and converted me. Everton is the black hole of football.

Everton is where careers go to either stall or die.

Imagine how depressing it is to be at the peak of your powers, have a great season and know you’re getting a big money move  that summer only to end up at Everton. There was a link to United and maybe even a move abroad on the cards but none of it materialised. Everton come in a week before the deadline and yeah it’s good money but you ultimately know up you’re going to finish 11th and get knocked out in the quarter final of the FA Cup.

Saw Scholes saying Lingard should move to Everton last night, literally the perfect signing. United to Everton is clearly a step down but he’s more of a Bournemouth/Newcastle/4 goals and 1 assist for whoever finishes 15th quality player. Everton then get to find that out, like they are with Iwobi and they stay poo.

Don't think anyone does more for “the big 6” than Everton do, they overpay for the rejects and players not quite good enough. Sigurdsson, Walcott, Iwobi etc

Even better is when they pay to take a player like Zouma on loan from Chelsea, develop them for a season and then deliver them straight back to Chelsea.

Finding the Ben White saga quite interesting and shows the problem with building around a loan player from a side who will effectively come your rivals.

Leeds are defensively stuffed without him, so they either pay massively over the odds, which has the knock on effects of other clubs expecting you to over pay, or run the risk in the transfer market that everyone knows they need a defender.
