Would have felt more at ease with our situation if they'd gotten away with it, but I think the panel's reasons are interesting:

"The club was charged in November 2019 and referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission, which conducted a full hearing at the end of June 2020, before finding the Club guilty based on the fact that the Club should not have included profits from the sale of Hillsborough Stadium in the Club’s financial statements for the period ending July 2018.

The club was found not guilty of a further charge of breaching its duty of utmost good faith to the EFL by deliberately concealing information from the League in respect of filings made in respect of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules."

Seeing as they've only been found guilty on including the accounts in the wrong year, something we seemingly haven't done, hopefully it bodes well for us.

Hopefully, although you can imagine the shitstorm of replies on the tweet announcing we haven’t received a punishment.

They EFL are obviously embarrassed by both cases, and I wasn’t expecting anything to come from either case. It seems they’ll try and squeeze a punishment from anywhere they can if possible to try and save face.

Hope you’re right ????

So SWFC points deduction and potentially ours are deferred to next season.. yet Wigan’s is implemented immediately ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️ that’s not right! Is it??

Wigan’s is more clear cut, enter administration = automatic points deduction

Rules are clear regarding administration I think.

Bored of this. Clubs who have not been good enough on the pitch threatening legal action over points deductions to rescue them.

Win more games, you stay up, simple as that.

The points deduction was for accountancy errors in 17/18, that’s like 2 years ago!

You do realise that if we don't get points deducted we'll have there chairman taking action against us as well.  It's a running joke . May as well sue QPR if this carries on with there 70 odd million wage bill in 13/14.  Villa as well.  Anyone else.

I get why the likes of Charlton are kicking up over this, but realistically they shouldn't have been punished in 19/20, they should have been punished in 18/19. If Birmingham failed FFP in 17/18 and got their punishment the season after, then what's taken the EFL this long to decide Wednesday have also broken the rules? If Wednesday got sent down at the end of this year through a points deduction from rule breaks in the 17/18 season, they could just as easily complain that the EFL's slow response to the issue has seen them relegated in a later season where they would have been safe the season prior if the EFL had acted quicker.

My favourite retort to the above

Can’t you lads take this conversation to a league 1 group because quite frankly us championship big dogs are bored to death of it.

Love how Leeds constantly get involved in these conversations as well. The club who once had a points deduction carried over to a season in 2007 themselves.  They should actually have been wound up that year but were given extraordinary dispensation last minute to start a new season in administration- totally against football league regs at the time.  Short term memory bamfords.

I read the statement as the charge being for putting the sale in the wrong set of accounts, rather than the sale - which would be the acting in good faith section?

Surely falsifying accounts is a bit more than ‘acting in good faith’?

Charlton are grasping at straws, you end up at the end of the season where you deserve to.
Also aren’t they about to go in to administration too?

Not always true though as Barnsley deserved to get relegated this season but got saved by Wigan’s points deduction.

I do find the flare ups at the bottom of the table quite amusing:
You've got Charlton saying that they deserve to stay up as Sheffield Wednesday should have had their point deduction last season, and should instead take their place
You've got Wigan saying that they deserve to stay up as their administration was implemented on shaky grounds, so a point deduction would be unfair
You've got Barnsley saying that they deserve to stay up as Wigan have entered administration, so they deserve their point deduction
Then at the very bottom you've got Hull saying absolutely nothing and just accepting the fact that they're terrible and deserve to go down

If they take action against anyone, they'll take it against The EFL.
