Suggesting midfielders that we don't need who would cost well north of Rooney's wages? You're doing just fine.* *Don't forget to call things toss though, otherwise you'll never really be a member of the gang ?

Black ('n' White) Sheep
If we're looking for a left-back option, how about Luke Garbutt? Currently without a club after being released by Everton (so wouldn't cost us anything... in terms of a transfer fee at least). Had a couple of decent loan seasons in L1 with Ipswich and Oxford recently.

DCFC1388
If we were to go for another left back I would look at Douglas from Leeds, 1 year left on his deal and behind Dallas & Alioski in the pecking order

I hope we’ve learnt our lesson by now with players like Sturridge. We need someone reliable who can score 20 a season. Not a 31 year old who’s made of glass. We'll be back in 81
What we need is a dutch version of Jack Stamps, David Swindlehurst, Mick Harford or Steve Howard up front.

Rev
It may be worth waiting until the partial window shuts, and we have the 2 week period when only domestic transfers between different leagues happens. 1. We may pick up a top class player who may be well out of our range normally, but could be available on loan for the rest of the season. Such a signing wouldn't block any youngster's coming through either, not in the long term. 2. Lower league targets may be at clubs in serious financial strife by then, and we'd be buying in a depressed market from desperate sellers. Not a nice thought admittedly, but that's capitalism for you. We're possibly going to be under similar pressure from above.
