If we're looking for a left-back option, how about Luke Garbutt? Currently without a club after being released by Everton (so wouldn't cost us anything... in terms of a transfer fee at least). Had a couple of decent loan seasons in L1 with Ipswich and Oxford recently.

It may be worth waiting until the partial window shuts, and we have the 2 week period when only domestic transfers between different leagues happens.

1. We may pick up a top class player who may be well out of our range normally, but could be available on loan for the rest of the season. Such a signing wouldn't block any youngster's coming through either, not in the long term.

2. Lower league targets may be at clubs in serious financial strife by then, and we'd be buying in a depressed market from desperate sellers. Not a nice thought admittedly, but that's capitalism for you. We're possibly going to be under similar pressure from above.

Cornick from Luton is better than what we have
