Iv heard the clarke and his wife are both happy in Derby and they want to stay here so hopefully we can keep him even if it means another loan for the season then hopefully we will have a investment by then and we can make it permanent in January or the summer after best defender we have had in years!

Brighton just signed a dutch international from ajax. Who plays rb and cb.

This will surely push clarke down the pecking order there

Ollie Watkins, maybe we try and turn the clock back and pay Exeter the extra few hundred grand for him...he is just what we need ?

Or maybe Exeter could sell him to us at the price they agreed with Brentford and we save £2m.

Who's to say his career would have taken off in the same way had we signed him anyway?

If we can make an incredible average championship winger look better than he is I'm sure we could make an excellent championship winger/forward look crap.

It wouldnt have, we would have stuck him on the right wing.

How about Max Kilman from Wolves on loan if we can't re-sign Clarke?

Left-footed centre-half with 25 caps for the England futsal team, so definitely good at playing out from the back. Can't see him getting too much game time there next season, and at 23 he will definitely need first-team football.

Careful. Don’t mention futsal to @Boycie

In the spirit of finding 'lower league gems' I'm putting forward Kieron Morris from Tranmere as a suggestion. Right winger. Saw him playing at the Pirelli against Burton and was easily their best player (admittedly it was Burton 4-2 Tranmere, so that wasn't difficult!... but he scored one and created the other). Looking at his stats, he has a pretty good assists record throughout the season too.

With everything happening with COVID can we really now see fans back in stadiums next season? Match day tickets is a major source of revenue, the other is commercial revenue from sponsorship but also the corporate events, and commercial use of pride park from companies like my employer R-R. That’s all stopped. Then the TV money. Unlike the premier league it’s crap for the EFL.

We therefore can’t expect anything in the transfer market from Derby. It’s all about loans free transfers, Marriott getting fit and our youngsters improving.

More concerningly, how can clubs in any of the EFL leagues remain viable with no fans in grounds? The premier league can do it with their mega TV deal but no one else can.

I can see us picking up some prem talent again based on Cocu clealry giving youngsters game time. Maybe Chong from United. We were interested in Jan but injuries at United meant they wanted to keep him

No chance in Chong, he’s had big money offers from Europe.

Like the look of Ferguson for Aberdeen, that Bryson ain’t bad either

Wonder if we might take a look at Lawrence Shankland at Dundee United over the next couple of weeks.  Prolific in the Scottish Championship (29 in 35 games), so should be interesting to see how he steps up as the SPL restarts.  He scored in all three cup games that Dundee played against SPL opposition so you'd think he could make it.

Anyway, 6'1" tall, pacy and prolific.  With Scottish football under severe financial pressure there could be a Vardyesque bargain to be had for someone?
