Actually the small ship is HMS Badworth which has come alongside HMS Tyne which Dad served on from 1942-46. There are some amazing photos in the IWM archives which are well worth checking out!

I read a great comment on Youtube under a VE Day video from a German which went " Enjoy your day ,if it's one thing us Germans have learnt over the past 100 years it's not to duck with the British". Top bloke.

That was my point about why yesterday was so special and why the NHS/key workers should not have been mentioned . To me, yesterday was all about those who did their bit in WW2 and in 25 year’s time there will be no veterans left to show our appreciation to.

As an aside, I saw on the news last night a whole street applauding a former Lancaster bomber pilot, it brought a lump to my throat, he was so humble and genuinely touched, a lovely moment for him.
