Bristol City fan here, to be honest I would only really recommend the cricket club as previously mentioned, there are real problems with parking schemes around the ground at the moment. Unless you are there early enough I wouldn't even bother trying to find street parking.

I've not heard of any problems parking on the estate as mentioned before, it is now more common with away supporters since the away fans were switched from the other end of the ground the other year.

For anyone not been to the cricket club before, below are some directions from Bedminster Cricket clubs website:

Match Day
We offer parking for all Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby home matches (including Boxing Day) at Ashton Gate Stadium, for only £10. There is no rush after the final whistle, our ground is open until the last car leaves.

The ground is a quick 5 minute walk from Ashton Gate Stadium, with the bar open on all match days and food served for Bristol City FC games.

All proceeds go to the Cricket Club to help preserve the ground during season as well as the development of our youth teams.

Parking cannot be reserved, it is on a first come first served basis. We are clearly signposted along Clanage Road, just after the City Maze if you are coming from the M5, or first turning on the right if you are coming from the direction of Ashton Gate.

**********************

The other advantage parking here you are the right end of the ground should you want to go to any of the pubs mentioned above, or even just to go straight to the away turnstiles.

There are lots of bars outside the ground now, there is a fanzone aimed at home supporters (if you go down the right hand side of the ground), which always welcomes away supporters, where there is every kind of food and drink you could want with live music too.

There is often an away fanzone too, but with the poor weather down here at the moment, I am not sure if this is happening tonight

For anyone that hasn't been in the Atyeo stand before, when you first walk in you will see a food and drink kiosk, the mistake people make is thinking this is the only kiosk but if you continue through the doors and up the stairs there are more kiosks and a bigger area to congregate.

One pub that isn't mentioned above that does let away supporters in, is called The Tobacco Factory, it is about a 10 minute walk from the away end.

By the away end you will see a big park on the opposite side of the road, with the away end BEHIND ypu (looking at the park) follow the road to the right, you will pass The Rising Sun and Coopers (home pubs), follow the road around to the right.

In the distance you will see an Aldi store (DON'T park here they use cameras to check length of time parking etc) walk past Aldi and you will see a massive big red bricked buildings on the left (the first half you pass is a "Thali" restaurant, and the entrance to The Tobacco Factory is on the corner, lots of away fans use this venue and mix with locals etc. If you are hungry there is a decent chip shop on the opposite side of the road

Safe journey to anyone travelling - at least the high winds have dropped but it is still baltic down here

Get one for the home end, then post in the thread below to let us know how you got on!  🙂

I thought about it, but it would be really difficult not to celebrate if we score, then I'd probably get ejected  😅

Wouldn't even call tonight a 6 pointer, it's a season defining game.

We've hit some sort of form and style, we win tonight and we could seriously look at a run towards the top six. Lose tonight and mid table is probably our level.

It'd be fascinating to be a fly on the wall in the changing rooms tonight, it's probably the first time Cocu has been in a real position to look forwards rather than over his shoulder.

Yep been before 3 or 4 times and on the car park buddy 👍

Doddle to walk as you say and get back to M5 maybe 10 minutes. Shame traffic took half an hour or more to get down. Rush hour mayhem!

Staying in pub near Badminton, should be back well before last orders!

We seem to have done this Bristol away thing already. We had the wind the rain, more flags than them and we beat them.

That all seems like a lifetime ago now. What a hectic season we're having.

In our last 5 away games at Brizzle we are W3 D1 L1 and while they sit comfortably clear of us right now, after ending their play-off hopes with an unlikely run into the top 6 last season, they might be forgiven for looking nervously over their shoulders given our current run of form.

Not fussed about our away form. It's a headset thing and I think we are starting to overcome the mental block in any case. Nobody will really want to be playing us right now and rightly so, so I hope we approach the game with a positive mindset.

Suspect this game will be settled in midfield. If we get a foothold I can see us winning the game. It'll be interesting to see how they try to nullify Wazza, assuming they do, but with Waggers, Martin, Lawrence and Homeless all looking real attacking threats right now, focussing too much on Wayne might create opportunities for others.

My head says 1-1 but my heart says we are due a solid defensive performance so I'm thinking 2-0 with Waggers and Lawrence grabbing the goals.

I'd like to see us set up something along the following lines...

                                                         Hamer

                                Bogle      Wisdom      Clarke      Lowe (Fozzy)

                                                        Rooney

                                      Holmes (Knight)            Bird

                                                      Lawrence

                                         Waghorn              Martin

Tough on Fozzy and Jason as both have shown decent form recently, but the midfield picks itself on current form and Lawrence is beginning to blossom under the patient tutelage of Cocu and his team. If we can weather the early storm and get a foothold in the game, I can see us giving Brizzle plenty to think about. If we do, it's game on in terms of a late charge into the top 6.

The only thing I’d say is that Fozzy’s height might be useful in a defensive position and it’s an away game.

i think you made a great point about Rooney drawing attention. It’s been very useful because I think it has allowed Bird and Holmes particularly, the space to do what they do.

just can’t call any game at the moment, if we are on it I fear no one, but ...... will glued to text commentary much to mrs Jono’s chagrin

Yep, that's the toughest call for me and I'd be more than happy were Fozzy picked. You could also argue that having got himself a ban, Max needs to earn the shirt back or Fozzy have a shocker. In any case, I'm glad I don't have to make these calls.

Paterson, Weimann and Benkovic all likely to feature for them. At least one of them will undoubtedly score.

Paterson goal incoming circa 19:47 & Weimann just after half-time.

Need a much better defensive performance in an away game. Which doesn’t mean sitting back either. I can see it being a case of one side edging it in a high scoring game. 0-0 incoming...

If we win it shows how we have progressed as a unit, losing will be a disappointment but we can take it so long as we don't rollover and allow them to dominate us over 90 minutes. We are the team that's on the up and we are more than capable of showing them what DCFC are all about

A “like” simply for the use of that beautiful word so appropriately {pronounced “SHA-grann” }.
