This situation is worse than watching paint dry. If we sign anyone of any worth in this window I will be amazed! Looks like its the U23's playing for us folks.

They have been very pleasant to watch actually

Not knocking the U23 Sparkle..... Lots of potential talent. Just a slight worry with the lack of depth we have at senior level, and the well documented short comings we have in certain areas of the senior squad. The bumpy ride that is the 2019-2020 season just keeps giving!

There seems to be a few rumours about a 'high earner' leaving the club. Coupled with Cocu saying he expects another player to leave...

If we are having to lose a high earner, then perhaps we are in an even more dire financial state than we thought.

Who said "having"?

A lot of people on here seem to hold 2 views:

1. Since the season is "basically over" (incidentally, I don't believe this), why get in a loan for 5 months?

2. We have "no money" to bring in any players permanently (I also don't think this is true).

If those are both true, then why would we not want to get rid of players who aren't going to play, even if it is on loan? Why not let Huddlestone go? (he's a big earner, and out of contract in the summer). Why not let Bennett go? (he'll command a compensation fee in the summer and save us a few quid in wages between now and then) Why not let Josefzoon or (very unlikely) Anya go?

Looking at other "big earners":

Martin/Waghorn/Marriott- if we're serious about JHI getting a chance, why not let one of these go - particularly as we can get a fee? We *never* play all 3, and we have alternatives in all positions except CF - since we only play one directly up front, then if we're left with (say, Marriott and Martin), then those are our 2 first choices with JHI as a backup.

Davies: Won't be him - even if it is, he's currently our 3rd choice CB.

Rooney: Won't be him

Lawrence: Genuinely, I think he'd be the *worst* of our "big earners" to go, as we don't have anyone to directly replace him in the current squad.

Since the "season is over", why don't we just save the wages?

Squad depth calculator says Davies will return to Humberside

Said in an interview with Colin Gibson a while ago that Derby is where he’s gonna stay for the future, as it’s near his wife’s mum. Can’t see him moving

Yeah but he's not likely to get much game time now we've brought in another centre half...oh!
