Are you deliberately trying to bring down the mood?  ?

Has he signed a contract/ is he under contract beyond this season?

Signed as a first year scholar at start of 18/19.

Nothing has been announced. But, the same applies to a most other U23 players and it's usually the same every year up until we see the retained list at the end of the season.

Ravas, Barnes, Bateman, Wassall, Babos, Shonibare, Cresswell and Trialist should all be pushing for loans/transfers to gain first team experience. I hope most of leave get loans for the rest of the season.

A bit of it seems like Cocu trying to find solutions from within the squad

Can Fozzy play at centre-half? Can he still do it at full-back?

Wisdom at right-back or centre-back?

Do the youngsters have it?

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Evans get a run of games at CB. Too many players at DM as it stands and only two recognised CBs going into next season.

Agree that this seems to be what’s happening. Think our financial situation and the subsequent mess we’ve made of transfers this season, in addition to other off the field incidents, has rather forced Cocu’s hand mind. With the lack of quality and depth within the squad in certain areas, we’ve had little choice but to play players out of position and throw youngsters in at the deep end. Some young players have obviously seized the opportunity brilliantly mind, and have proven themselves worthy of the faith shown in them.

I would hope however that next season we can at least start to get our house in order by wheeling and dealing well in the transfer market to rebalance our squad in terms of having sufficient depth in each position, as well as hopefully adding some real quality. If we manage that then hopefully we shouldn’t have to rely on square pegs in rounds holes, or throwing in youngsters who aren’t yet ready. You don’t tend to get promoted doing those sort of things - though we should of course retain a focus on the academy and introducing young players into the team IF we think they’re ready for it. At the moment it’s all very difficult to predict mind, what with the FFP/ investment situation, so who knows what will happen.

Ill add one more thing as well, I think part of the reason why we’re seeing players playing in all sorts of different positions is simply because we have a number of players whom we haven’t yet established the best role for in our system. Is Wisdom a right back or a a centre back? Is Evans as CB or midfielder? Is Bielik a CB or CDM? Some of those answers are not clear, and I’m not sure even the coaching staff yet know the all the right answers. We need to work out the best positions for all these players sooner rather than later if we can mind, so that we can focus on training each player to be the best they can be In the specific role that they best suit in our system - rather than wasting players as a “jack of all trades” type.

Personally think since he has had an enforced return at left back he has put in the best performances on left back this season of anyone. Certainly would look to retain him.

Can anyone confirm this ?  I have seen several mentions of a contract extension signed during Lampards time.

Not seen anything official that I can remember.
