Hamer

Bogle Wisdom Clarke Lowe

Rooney Huddlestone Holmes

Knight Martin Lawrence

If Bielik was fit I'd have him in ahead of Huddlestone. I like Bird, but he just doesn't offer the same sort of creativity as Huddlestone or drive as Bielik and in a team really lacking creativity we need to try and include as much as possible.

Not a great team though .... don't like Hamer in goal because he's just so slow to get us going. Not a fan of the centre back partnership but I prefer the mobility of it to the Clarke - Davies partnership. I don't think the right hand side works well at all because both Bogle and Knight prefer to go down the outside which makes it easy for the opposition to defend. And if they do mix it up and cut inside neither are likely to cause much trouble using their left foot. There's a lack of mobility between Rooney and Huddlestone but at the minute they're about the only players we have who can pick out a pass under pressure. Would like Marriott to be our main striker but he can't keep himself fit for more than a couple of games at a time. Waghorn isn't quick enough to cause the opposition trouble in behind and he's just not good enough to be a target man so that leaves Martin as probably the best option. Don't rate Lawrence much and think he's more of a hindrance to the team than a help half of the time, but Jozefzoon is awful, Anya is missing, we've sent Paterson back, Bennett is leaving and Whittaker hasn't shown much at all when he's played, so Lawrence is about the best option we've got.

Just imagine if we end up getting a transfer embargo next season and have signed no one during this January window. They probably won't extend Carson's contract because his wages are high, Bogle will probably leave and we'll obviously lose the loans from this season. ?

I've seen the "he doesn't know his best side" thrown around a lot recently, in regards to Cocu, but if we look closely, we'd see that it's unfair.

We actually don't have a good enough starting XI to play any one system to the best of its ability.

Not enough width for a 4-3-3. No wingers for it.

Not enough creativity in midfield for the 4-2-3-1.

Not enough pace down the flanks for the 4-4-2.

Not got comfortable enough defenders to play with three at the back.

The reality here is that our years of chopping and changing managers, and allowing them to recruit for a number of different styles, has left us with a squad with no balance, shape, rhyme or reason. The club has done this to itself. Jumping from one style (McClaren) to another (Pearson) and then back again (McClaren) and then off in another direction (Rowett) stinks of directionless leadership.

And here we are.

When you see the goals Chrissy has scored this season and the ones Jack scored last it makes me weep to think Cocu can't get them playing well together, he doesn't seem to want to either.

until our midfield starts creating chances it really won't matter who we play upfront

Like it. Bogle is really offering some width there.

The best side is the one that Cocu puts out , its the way they play that counts , we need full backs / wing backs that get to the oppositions byeline , many times they cut in too early, a ball played across the box has always been a defenders nightmare

I seem to remember we did well when Lawrence was not in the team , 10 minute players are a luxury , we need 11 players with the right attitude but above all else we need consistency
