Watching Man Utd Vs Burnley last night and noticed something I don't recall seeing for god knows how many years, United fans leaving their ground in their 1000s 10mins before the final whistle, Having dominated English football in the 90s and 00s they have lapsed into also rans, Uniteds support last night confirmed what non unted fans have often thought just a bunch of trophy hunting supporters, 73,198 were there in a capacity of 74,879.

Supporting Macclesfield, Morecambe and Stevenage now that takes courage.

In their defence, they had to leave early to get to the airport on time

Jesus Christ. I wouldnt call 73,198 in a stadium that can only hold 74,879 a bad attendance.

Our stadium is half empty even at kick off. Whats our excuse? Most of the people supporting Derby could equally be supporting Heanor Town or Ilkeston, etc.

Citeh can’t fill there stadium every game and they got Curly Watts as 1 of there celebrity fans.....and they won the league last year

Met him at the Irish centre years ago.  He was playing in a group there. Very friendly bloke. Apparantly, he was in a band with Johnny Marr pre- Smiths.  Anyone remember him doing the half time draw with Tracy Shaw against Wolves in 95/96. A wonderfully exciting 0-0.

Past 10pm finish on a weekday night? Joke and a manifestation of modern football being ruled by TV.

For midweek Derby home games my head doesn't touch the pillow rarely before 1am. Up for work at 6am. Thanks sky.

It's not a bad attendance . Wasn't that long ago though, that they had a ten year waiting list for season tickets.

There were barely 10,000 left with 20 minutes to play

Getting out of Manchester on match night is a mare. Usually go once or twice a season, more lately to have a laugh at them as I’m normally able to bag some corporate.

Was up there for the semi final the other week, I got back to South Derbyshire at 2.30 in the morning. Usually stay over, nip in the red cafe and few beers because it’s bloody horrible getting onto the M6.

Cant say I blame them, after all, most haven’t been used to losing until the past few years OR when the Rams visit ?

The wait for a Man Utd season ticket is even longer than 10 years now. The only difference between now and the Ferguson years is that the wait time has increased.

I get that you are exaggerating for comedic affect, but virtually every club in the land including ours has fans leaving early in droves. If the team isnt playing well its even worse - the fans dont even turn up at Derby if the football is poor. Despite what the OP says this is not a rare occurence st old trafford.

I beg to differ, There may well be small pockets of empty seats as a norm, On this occasion the stadium was emptying quicker than a bottle of Champaign opened by Lewis Hamilton after a Grand Prix win.

I have always found the real/half/plastic/fake fan debate totally ridiculous.

People who hold season tickets at a club lording it over those who don't and behaviour like that is total nonsense. There are hundreds of reasons why season tickets are not practical for most people. Probably an issue for clubs higher up the chain, but people who disregard foreign fans as tourists, as if there is some sort of corden around the ground that means only local folk should get tickets is also nonsense.

The real enemy to football fans is not other football fans but the leaches and vultures that run the game and want to commercialise it to the point where fans become irrelevant, all whilst forgetting that without the fans (from all walks of life and nations) the whole thing falls on its arse.

Add to that the cost of tickets. Mel has said numerous times in the past that Premier League teams could essentially afford to give away tickets as the gate receipts matter so very little compared to the money from everywhere else - hence he's ran the free season ticket offer a few times. The irony of that, of course, is our tickets are extortionate in the second tier, as are many others.

To be honest I could start a whole new thread on this, but the fact fans often turn on each other before turning on the parasites that want to bleed the game dry frustrates me a lot.
