EFL charge Derby over ffp

“ For the three year period ending in May 2018!” - I suspect the damage was caused by Sam Rush who was sacked in May 2017 for “ gross misconduct and a breach of fiduciary duty”

If Leicester and QPR can get away with what they did then I’m sure Mel can steer around this situation but it’s increasingly evident that failure to get promoted and a plethora of inferior signings have brought us to this sorry state of affairs. Fasten your seatbelts folks!?

The decision to spend £10m on one player - out for the season - looks even more misguided on these circumstances.

Well:-

(a) I doubt it was £10m

(b) If we didnt have the money we wouldnt spent it

(c) The '£10m' does not go straight against P&S

Yes but nobody cared because they were too busy celebrating that we were writing big cheques.

That didn't happen immediately, even after our 2014 Wembley failure.

The purse strings were loosened, but still tight. The Thorne saga lasted so long because we were haggling. His replacement after his injury was a loan. Yes, a few players got crazy contract renewals, but it was hardly a spending spree and a sensible enough attempt to keep the team together.

It's under Clement we started throwing mud at the wall.

And why did he have to do that? Because there is nothing ''fair'' about financial fair play. 3 clubs come down with huge amounts of cash which they can spunk around for years, and other clubs aren't allowed to compete with them because of these shitty rules. All they do is keep the status quo. If owners are paying what they should be and doing what they can afford, then I don't see an issue. duck FFP.

Other clubs manage to stick to the rules, why are we any different?

We might need Bennett and Forsyth and half as much salary Martin to sign new deals

If Bennett is kept he can have a wage half of what he would get offered by the likes of Burton Albion and then make up the rest via bonuses for appearances, assists and goals.

We've gone from being a well run club & everyones favourite second team playing good football & narrowly missing out on promotion. By second team i mean most wishing us well in under mac one. We had hard working honest players & were entertaining

We are now one of the most hated teams in the division. Always on the brink of FFP & bending the rules to stay within FFP. We have overspent on average players on big money & become a mess. We knew the rules & broke them so not suprised its catching up with us

They don't though, do they? Loads of clubs have broken the rules. The rules basically invite you to break them if you can spend enough to brute force promotion you never have to pay for breaking the rules.

It took seven months from when the EFL charged Birmingham City to their points deduction in March 2019.

The EFL had wanted to dock Birmingham 10 points, but reduced it to nine because they pleaded guilty.

We should plead not guilty and take the 10 point fine - we'd only lose that point defending a set piece away from home anyway.

He didn’t “have” to spunk millions on players, he did it on his own accord. It is the risk you take when you sign heavy cheques in the championship. If you don’t go up you are well and truly screwed.

He wanted to keep his team competitive. If he can afford it, why shouldn't he? The FFP rules just make the Championship heavily skewed in favour of the clubs with parachute payment.

To be fair isn't the tail end of the so called Bradley Johnson era? When Mel spuffed tens of millions.

edit: Heck just not signing him and paying his wages would have meant we'd have come in the margin comfortably....wouldn't it?
