BodminRam
Can he play out wide, or centre half, NO, so whats the point
RamLad1884
Would allow Whittaker to go out on loan and get some much needed experience. It's clear players like Knight/Sibley/Bird are ready for the first team and a loan did Lowe the world of good. Not against this signing, proven player at this level and might bring some composure in front of goal.

Millenniumram
I believe this to be the goalscorer that I heard we were after and alluded to in the Marriott thread. He fits the description I was given, so I would suggest despite Nixon’s dodgy record that this link is a real one. Personally, I’m not convinced myself with the prospect of this deal. With the takeover delay and our financial situation because of it, I don’t think a striker is a priority for this window. I do think we need better in the long term in fairness than what we’ve got in order to challenge for promotion, but if we can only make a couple of signings this window, it would be one I would leave for now. We’re not short on numbers there so it’s not something that needs sorting as drastically as CB for instance. I’m also not convinced Sharp is quite the player he once was. He’s probably better than Waghorn so I suppose it’s at least an improvement there, but I’m not convinced he’ll be anything more than average at this level in general play now, though probably better than our current strike force at taking chances that come his way. So he’d be an improvement I guess, but we still need better and more from our main striker than Sharp would bring for me in order to challenge for promotion. You can add to all that that its not the sort of deal we should be looking at either imo. Would rather see perms or young loans from top teams come in than short term solutions again like Sharp. We need to look more for the future. It’s a no from me.

What is Sharp going to use for ammunition?
DCFC1388
Maybe this move could mean the takeover is close too? Like mentioned before a forward isnt high priority.
GB SPORTS
Loan only, not really Phil's type of striker either mind you neither is Martin, Waghorn, Marriott or Roon.
Anag Ram
I have mixed feelings on this one. I have seen Sharp a couple of times this season and thought he had lost a yard of pace. So in terms of open play he might struggle However, one of our key issues is the failure of our players to take up good positions in the box. Sharp is a natural goalscorer with good instincts. As a short term measure he fits the bill. I would get rid of Waghorn not Marriott.
Bald Eagle's Barmy Army
Yes yes yes. Even if he is 33, we need a goal machine and you won’t get much better at this level with the right service. With Rooney playing further forward, we need somebody to make runs.
DarkFruitsRam7
Scored 23 goals in 40 league games last year. I believe that's better than anyone we've had this century. I get that we might consider other areas a priority, but all this moaning is very strange.

Complete no brainer, goals, work rate and a great atitude. Get it done.
Mafiabob
What a waste of wages for me...... 5 months into the season and we’ve gone looking 7 junctions up the M1 for a lad whose barely played this season. When do we ever learn. One thing clear for me, I don’t think it’s Cocu whose involved in the transfers policy. Just my thoughts that’s all. I told you in that thread that we were seriously in for him and so it seems we still are, apparently he wants to be playing and not watching which is a good trait - now a loan until the end of the season might not seem a lot but I was told he is out of contract in the summer so we may be looking at that possibility as well- ultimately Cocu wants the ball putting in the net when we have the chances - Marriott is the natural goalscorer who is never fit - Waghorn does well for the team but isn’t great and misses more than he puts away ( can play wide and help though) and Martin has done well and is a decent option within the set up - Marriott has been our problem

NottsRam77
Not against this at all as has been alluded to scores plenty of goals at this level (apart from when on loan at forest lol) but his haul last year was playing in a two off a big man.... if we’re just going to stick him upfront by himself then he’s going to be just as isolated as any of our current forwards hes not one to lead the line on his Todd
RadioactiveWaste
Would take a loan til the end of the season seeing as Marriott can't stay fit. But I wouldn't place big expectations on him.
cannable
We’ve got Waghorn, after Sharp, may as well get Hooper to complete the Nigel Clough triumvirate
Sheikh n Bake
If we are looking at playing 2 upfront, maybe we could do with another addition. Marriott - Unreliable fitness wise. Martin - 6 goals in his last 66 appearances in the last 2 years. He was starting to show some previous form but seems to have dropped down the pecking order again. Waghorn - This season he just hasn't been at the races. Rooney - I think Cocu has aspirations to play him further back. Anyone else is a square peg for a round hole. Sharp gets a big thumbs up from me.
DCFC1388
I think Cocu is starting to click that playing 2 up front or one really close ia our best way forward. Played 2 up at home vs Charlton & Barnsley then Sibley really close to Martin vs Palace. Lawrence was then meant to be up close to Waghorn which didnt work so Rooney moved forward.
