He's scored 1 goal in 14 appearances. By the same token Waghorn has 7 in his 32 premier league appearances making him also 'proven'. Doesnt hold any water really. The majority of Sharps goals have been the in League 1 and the Championship. I still rate him above Waghorn who has seemed to have taken on Johnny Russell's mantle of serial fluffer of 1 on 1s. I agree with the sentiment but watching yesterday’s game you could see just how little quality we have in the side. It’s all honest endeavour and no end product. The lack of confidence to demand the ball and do something a little different is alarming considering we are on a successful run. Everyone’s first thought is to pass back to the person who passed to them. Holmes and Lawrence at least try to run with the ball but their options are then usually hiding. Waghorn put a real shift in yesterday but at no stage did he look like scoring a goal. We cannot go into games with so little attacking threat. Footballing wise I agree Sharp is better than Waghorn, but I’m still not convinced by a loan deal for a 33 year old. I think we need a better long term option. Yes we lack quality in attack but I'm sure Cocu is fully aware of our shortcomings in that area and will address them, if not in this window then in the Summer.
