It would be a shame because it’s almost nearly mean the end for Marriott. However there does come a time where you cut your losses, if he can’t stay fit...

On paper this team should be scoring more goals than it does, but we’re one of the lowest scorers in the league so a natural goalscorer to play the entire second half of the season wouldn’t be a negative.

What is the point on signing a 33 year old for 5 months if we have no intention of challenging for the playoffs?
Surely we give more game time to our youth (Whittaker) or we buy young hungry players.

If true this is lazy, lazy, lazy recruitment once again. Nothing changes ☹️

Was utter madness not to buy him when we were promoted for that season. So many of us on here wanted to bring him in as a young goalscorer with an incredible record from the lower leagues. Even if we were to go down, his value would go up as a "Premier League striker".

Of course we didn't. Really feel that ship has sailed.  Sharp is no longer the player to change things to the extent we'd be fancied to be promoted this season, so it's about developing our players to be ready for the push next year.

We are Derby County, we do what we want, even if no one agrees or it makes very little sense.

Why would someone be against this?

A loan means he isnt blocking the path of any youth to step up like Cocu & Mel have said, clearly nobody is ready to step up just yet.

We are one of the lowest scorers in the league. Martin is a hold up player, Waghorn needs 20 chances to score 1 and Marriott cant play any more than 3 games in a row.

Yesterday showed we need a striker who can run in behind & without Marriott we dont have that.

I personally would be happy with this signing. Not every signing we make has to a youngster. Sharp could easily come in and bag 10+ goals for us and get us close to the playoffs if not in them.
