She could probably pop to the shops and get some supplies in. Fair enough, if she and a partner are both key workers, they might struggle to look after Cummings junior if both parents become so ill they can't look after him. Perhaps his aide can help who lives 2 streets away?

Would you send your kid to a work colleague to look after?

And what does she do?

Would she still be working and unable to look after the kid?

Who knows what their relationship is like?

My wife has a half sister living in the same city as her that she's never spoken a single word to.

All families are different.

Cummings being outfoxed by the media is proper karma. It allows all the yes men who defended him now perform the necessary u-turn and take the moral high ground.

They won't - and still their supporters will defend them because <insert today's talking point here>. It's as pathetic as it is predictable.

Yeah, plenty of them. I have worked in the same place for a number of years though and got loads of friends there. I imagine Cummings is despised at work though.

Probably like a lot of people I was fairly passionate about politics as a younger man then grew disillusioned with the whole shat show that I took no interest and stopped even bothering to vote for many years then decided not voting was probably not the right thing ,, how wrong was I ? back to not voting for me ,, there’s absolutely no point whatsoever, it’s far far worse than it’s ever been , these clowns are not only the pits but watching them today rally round to defend their own and treat the people of this country with utter contempt is a disgrace

Boris went to Eton, those schooled there know from a young age that they are and are expected to be above the rest.

Regretting voting for him more and more as time goes by.

Cummings has got to go. There is no defending him after today, if Boris doesn't get rid of him it indicates to me that the Tories think they're above the rest of us.

"Asking Boris to sack Cummings is like asking Emu to sack Rod Hull."

I'm a member of the public and I dont think the questions are legitimately in my interest, so I do not know why they think they can speak on my behalf, they are just part of a witch hunt.

Did not take the media long to forget about the Caroline Flack incident did it.

Pretty much the same as me, We the electorate are a strange bunch, We hoop and holla with delight or derision when the left/right wing media dig the enemy out, The same for the internet but with venom and vitriol, Politics is a cesspit full of individuals that see us as halfwits that are easy to be manipulated, We'll stand right by them even if they're wrong because we can't have the opposition be seen to win.

I'm sure there's some decent People on either side of the house when they've not got there MPs hats on ??, But when they're in the chamber let battle commence, And it's all there for us to see, There was a time when Parliament looked to be somewhat honest, We had a good speaker at times and genuine belief that MPs can be trusted, Then it changed, We saw what MPs are really there for...themselves, The expenses scandel opened up a treasure trove of gobsmacking greed, From ornaments in duckponds to whisteria around your house, A taxi ride to the shops down the road to a £1.50 sandwich, 2nd homes rented out or your partner charging your bill for watching porn on TV, Nationlism drove a wedge between friends and family, The SNP, Plaid Cymru, Green party, Lib Dems, The DUP, The ERG, Momentum, Remain, Leave, We've now been pigeon holed into factions where we think our Politics are and belong.

There's no Left, Right or Centre anymore...there's you'll do as we say, But we have got wise to you, Be afraid, Be very afraid, We have good memories.

The questions look fair enough to me. If the facts line up and he did nothing wrong then it should be simple enough to answer them and clear this whole mess up.

You make a valid point.

Most of us feel he was wrong with what he did, is it the worst crime and deserving of the continued attention is getting? I don't think so.

I think likeability comes into it and lets face it Cummings doesn't come across as the most likeable character so is always going to be on the end of it.  Hes high profile so it makes him a target, the media, although reported on, didn't round widely on Tahir Ali or Stephen Kinnock, probably because they havent been part of the decision making and just aren't high profile enough for anyone to care. I dare bet without searching neither was mentioned anywhere on this forum, yet i would say at least Tahir Ali's offence was a greater one than any of the others.

Last night i thought it was poor that there was so many questions, all asking pretty much the same thing, on the matter.....

Like i already said earlier in the thread, it was wrong in my opinion, but its clear that the media have only one goal and thats for him to resign, thats their prerogative i guess, but however you dress it up, once you get beyond the initial reporting of and questions on it just becomes bullying....if he did the unimaginable and went down the same path as Caroline Flack there would of course be 'mock' displays of sadness while they secretly rub their hands together just as they did with the Caroline Flack incident for the headlines it makes.

Well id certainly like the government to try and set the story straight from what they know. What would you prefer to be tabled to government this morning?

I'm glad we have some media that are willing to criticise and question the government and its employees.

I'm not sure that you can draw parallels with Caroline Flack here. Flack was a private citizen had been charged with a relatively serious crime. She was being put on trial by the media rather than in court.

DC is employed by the government as an advisor and has direct involvement in shaping coronavirus policy. His work and advice impacts over 60million lives. Im sure there will be some who say some pretty nasty things about him, but I would say it's fair to hold him to a higher standard.

I guesrs the ongoing criticism and harassment of Diane Abbot is different though?

On the Flack point, Cummings should absolutely not be harassed by anyone in the media or the public.

However, when you are in a public office and are found to be breaking the rules you have to expect questions to be asked. When even more allegations are then presented that contradict your initial answers then expect a fresh round of questions.

For me this is about the integrity of the people at the top level of our government. Their response yesterday was undermined by fresh allegations within hours. I think we are owed an explanation as to why that appears to be the case.

We all already know he broke the rules.

Most of us think he should now resign.

I'm struggling to see what their 'it's in the public interest' slant is?

Its nothing to do with public interest, it is all to do with harassment and getting him to resign.

If they think the questions are in the public interest then I hope they would also be willing to answer the following questions:-

Were Sky aware they were using footage obtained by reporters stood outside someone's private residence?

Were the reporters using social distancing? Did they ensure that the person they were filming could get access to his vehicle without having to break the social distancing rules?

If no, when did Sky become aware of this and what steps have they taken?

Can Sky ensure this wont happen to other members of the public?
