Duane is a player that you have to tip your hat to the recruitment staff, and it's not often I say that, but equally frustrating that we don't land more of these players.

When we signed him, Scunthorpe fans were in no doubts that he was a good player and you only have to watch him to know he's a good player. Technically, he's very good. He's hard working. He really is settling into that Bryson type role. The reason question marks hang over him, and the reason Premier League teams WON'T touch him, is the fact he's a small guy.

I really hope he can land the POTY award this season.

Only really in that he's short, but he's deceptively strong and you rarely see him eased off the ball or pull out of a 50/50.

It wasn't really the turn which set up his assist for Martin Vs Stoke (it was hardly close control) but the way held off the challenge of their player to break forward with it, with their player ending up on his arse.

He's worth £20m minimum now but I think we should keep him here for another 2 seasons.

He has the potential to fire the USA to their first World Cup in 2022 and bag the golden boot. In the USA his every goal will be called a "Slam Dunc" and his value, boosted by his "Slam Dunc" merchandising potential could be £100m+.

Very decent buy from Scunny. Well done to the recruitment team.

Have you been reading b4's guide to transfer window negotiations? ?

When we were being linked with Duane I posted on his transfer thread that I had a mate that was a Scunny Utd season ticket holder, he really rated Duane and did say to me that Duane could make the step up, I’m glad he was right, he’s been superb lately......I went to the game against Scunny earlier in the season, Duane was injured so was in the Derby end signing autographs, he also went into the Scunny stands to mingle with there support too, cracking bloke still very popular up here....I was also looking at some of the responses on the transfer thread and found this 1 quite amusing

Would be stunned if this has any truth to it. Bang average L1 player who was bombed out of a poor (at the time) Huddersfield for being too small and lightweight. We have better youngsters ourselves and the likes of Bryson and Butters are streets ahead as attacking mids. If he’s a winger now, then perhaps he’s improved.

Hopefully he is fit to play in the next game. We looked inept going forward without him.

Cocu didn’t sound hopeful. Hinted at ankle Ligament damage. Could be season ending which really would be the killer blow. He’s our most important player imo, and I’ve got no idea who can replace him. We looked lost without him.

Maybe one of the lads....knight or even Sibley?

Don’t think Knight is quite the right sort of player, but he’s probably the closest we have. Should definitely have come on today rather than Shinnie - that was a criminal mistake by Cocu. Sibley I think has the potential to be a Holmes style player, but he seems too naive to play first team football yet.

He was still able to run about and play a bit. Surely if it had been a serious injury he would have had to go straight off

Holmes didn’t look comfortable moving around though, looked in quite some discomfort.

We definitely missed him when he went off. Rooney got pushed into a more advanced position where he didn’t get possession anywhere near as often and was less influential.

For me, Holmes needs to add more goals to his game.

Just goes to show that there are players like Duane in the lower leagues who have what it takes to succeed at this level and beyond. Far more value for money than Butterfield, Johnson, Anya, Blackman etc.

You know you've just cursed him for the rest of the season ?

You couldn't pop down and do a valuation on Pride Park could you?
