Srg
Weird timing. Kept him through a load of crap, then sack him on a Friday before a game?

Millenniumram
Bizzare timing, they were just starting to get the odd win recently I thought... I mean he’s been a dead man walking for a while, but you’d think they’d have sacked him earlier if they were gonna sack him now.

Heard a discussion on talk sport involving managers and owners discussing sackings and how they come about. The owner was saying that this ‘give them 3 games to turn it around stuff’ is a waste of time. Once the rot has set in, and the relationships have soured, there is absolutely no point hanging on just wasting everyone’s time. The definition of kicking the can down the road really. So it seems odd, or just incompetent, that they didn’t just get rid when it seemed obvious to the whole world that it clearly wasn’t working out. The BBC makes it sound like they dont have a replacement yet either with Delap and co likely to be in charge for WBA on Monday. You'd think they would already have someone ready to announce. Their entire club seems to have been run extremely poorly over the last few seasons.

Yeah I can see the logic in that, once things reach a certain point, they’re just not going to resolve themselves. They’ve been very slow on the uptake, almost embarrassingly so, and have sacked him in probably one of his better runs as manager (well he won the other week, think that’s about the best he’s done there!) RadioactiveWaste
I hope it hasn't /doesn’t kill Jones career, just a rum situation to try to take on. Given the notional talent in the stoke squad even a duff manager should be safely mid table because the 11 on the pitch aren't all that bad. From without, it seems Stoke is a toxic steaming pile of squitty dog poo, and the football club just as bad (can't comment on port Vale tbh) GenBr
