Skysports.com understands Derby are lining up a move for in-demand Hibernian forward Derek Riordan.

Riordan could well be set to leave Easter Road this summer with a number of clubs monitoring his situation.

The talented 27-year-old has just one year left to run on his current contract and the Rams are now poised to make a bid.

Pride Park boss Nigel Clough could face competition from Championship rivals Barnsley for Riordan's services.

And a number of clubs from Germany and Korea are also keeping tabs on developments before firming up their interest.

Riordan has caught the eye this season with 16 goals despite playing in an unfamiliar wide role in John Hughes' side.

Hibs would be reluctant to lose the in-demand attacker, but could decide to cash-in on him now rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires next summer

Derby County are said to be considering a bid for Scottish Forward Derek Riordan. The twenty seven year old forward currently plays for Hibs in the Scottish Premier League and has a year left on his present contract.

Riordan has scored 16 goals this season from a wide position and this has sparked interest from Nigel Clough, even though at present the Rams have a glut of strikers at the club.

It is thought that Hibs are now looking at trying to cash in on Riordan rather than keep him at Easter Road for another season, or extend his contract further.

On a personal level Riordan does appear to be a fiery Scot. He was given a two year ban from all pubs and clubs in the Edinburgh area after an incident with bouncers at the 'Berlin' night club. This was increased to five years for a second incident in November 2008, which saw him allegedly hit someone in a nightclub. A year after this incident he was again arrested for a breach of the peace, which resulted in a fine, Hibs also disciplined the player...

I really rate this lad, didn't make it at Celtic, considered a light weight but what I saw last season suggests he's strengthened up.

High skill level and a crowd pleaser!!

Yes but could he please the moaning pessimistic crowds at derby lol

If we're selling Hulse then we need to sign someone like this to replace him. Otherwise we'll have another season with an average strike force and reliance on the short term line up to have any front men who are even the slightest bit good.
