v Brentford (A) Match Thread

Cocu needs to find out who wants the ball because at present that's not obvious.

The team looks lethargic and lacks fight.

However, it's the lack of movement both forward and back which is alarming.

I applaud the club for trying the youngsters. Dawes and co say they're not ready. How come everyone else's youngsters are ready?

Perhaps it's the lack of leaders in the side who will help them.

Makes me laugh so many scapegoating JFlo moaning he doesn’t beat his man ..

well at least he’s doesn’t constantly gift wrap the fuckry straight back to the opposition 24/7 like Lawrence and Dowell

that doesn’t make him any good I realise this but when ur detrimental to the side it’s time the manger grew a pair and made and actual decision instead of waiting til the games gone and hawking players off at half time in a hope to change things

3 times now on the spin players  have been pulled at half time

need to think about that opening line up harder mr cocu and mr championship specialist Leroy

im bloody fuming with that, and worried our boss lives in a Dutch total football utopia that isn’t going to work in the championship

That's what I've been saying about Jozefzoon.

He was criticised in the Bristol game for getting the ball 25 yards out and passing it back to a white shirt

I don't think he's much good either. But getting the ball within 25 yards yards and finding a white shirt is a lot better than getting the ball within 25 yards and being too fecking stupid to see you even have team mates. Or getting the ball within 25 yards and... oh! It's gone. I didn't even get it under control.

He's not as good as Simon Dawkins at holding possession and creating pressure in the final third. But compared to a couple of others he's Chris Martin in 13/14!!!

Well there is only 9ne positive to come from that game

Cocu must have learnt so much about so many of what he has

What’s new that he learned? I’m asking because much/most of the criticism on here is how the same players are making the same mistakes and playing in a similar way to the previous unacceptable performance.

unless he’s learned that this group of players are simply incapable of executing his instructions and particularly correcting their faults?

Notice that it's finally sinking in with a few people that success in Holland doesn't necessarily translate to success in the championship.  We shouldve recruited a manager who's actually proven themselves in the division.

That said I don't think Cocu is to blame for our current woes.  I doubt he had much to do with the recruitment and needs to be given time.

Maybe he has been over-picking some of them as we cannot carry on with giving away so much space in midfield

You know it's all very well us stating that every player was poo...

But the manager picks this team, trains this team and they are playing to his instructions.

The only blame here should be at the managers door.

He's got to get it together and quick.

To be fair to Cocu, although it sounded like an atrocious performance, he picked exactly the same team last week and they held WBA to a draw.

Yes in that game we both only scored via penalties, but we looked fairly solid in defence and then we get cut so open this week with the same team. It's bizarre we can go from one extreme to the other in the blink of an eye, most teams in this league manage to keep the same team out game by game and not get such wildly differing performances, the changed team in midweek should make no difference to this as only 1 of them played.

No shots on target isn't good at all and I'd much prefer us to be free flowing and free scoring, but if you stop them scoring you'd still get a draw and building from the back seems a good starting point, it's difficult to do that when we're so inconsistent. Are we needing to go more defensive away from home?

Let’s give him proper time

It's still very early in the season so let's not panic but two back to back 3-0 defeats without a shot on target isn't good enough. I think tactically Cocu has got this completely wrong, if we're playing a high line we actually need to press consistently and as a unit which we're not doing. Players are occasionally pressing but are consistently high up the pitch, too often we were cut open in the middle of the pitch with a simple pass due to the amount of players up in their half but not pressing effectively. This was a problem against west brom as well and it needs to be addressed quickly if we're to have a successful season.

Going forward we've not been good enough and this needs to be looked at. At least today there was more width than against west brom which i thought was a real issue. We looked absolutely toothless today with sloppiness being a substantial problem and looking way too slow on the ball.

Hah.... we’re within striking distance of the mighty Luton.....

there - can’t call me a misery! ?

If you want positives there are two teams below us who have parachute payments. (and that's impressive because there aren't that many teams below us). Although it is slightly worrying that the bottom team actually looked rather good against us.

You're going to have to take my word on this because I've thought this from day one not just after a couple of defeats.I have thought that too many cooks spoil the broth ,you have Cocu's team which he brought with him and then we added LR to the mix .

We then go and appoint Rooney as player coach, now I know he's not here yet but Cocu didn't convince me when his appointment was made, prior to that he stated his coaching team was complete .

Put this together with a multitude of systems and players used they probably don't know if they are cross head or countersunk . Add to this to a delayed appointment /poor preseason, losing 3 key players along with poor recruitment It probably shouldn't come as a surprise as to where we are.

It just doesn't look right to me a never has.

Those two teams are in crisis, the fact we are slightly above 2 teams in absolute crisis is no consolation what so ever.

His team selection has been nothing short of rediculous

And play who instead?

Shinnie? Paterson?

Bogle in a leg brace?

More kids?

The kids aren't ready. The senior players aren't good enough. The three loanees covered up the cracks last year.

None of that is Cocu's fault. He needs to be given time. He didn't have a chance in such a short preseason.

Those suggesting Pullis....I despair.

UTR ?
