I’ve seen that Malone had to tell some people in the east stand to shut up

He ought to try Everton or West Ham, if the grief at Pride Park bothers him he wouldn't leave the dressing room.  If you have a problem with a section of a crowd deal with it after the game through the right channel.   Don't tell people to shut up during a game like a child  when realistically you have no idea the exact people your telling to shut up .

Few folk seem quite despondent but I think we're in a good place. Frustrating to have a pen saved but that aside, Swansea were not interested in playing any football today and executed their plan well but we were the only side that was going to win the game today we just rather lucked out. We're averaging 2 points a game currently in any case and there'll be easier games to come as well a good few approaching full fitness and possibly starts against Stoke. Today's 11 is a long way from our strongest team I'd suggest and we have Rooney to look forward to too.I can't see him having any trouble picking the lock of teams like Swansea. Also, the players seem to settling into their roles under Cocu quite quickly and I'd expect significant improvement as they do.

As regards personnel, if at all possible, I'd be looking to give Holmes a start against Scunny. We possibly lacked a little creativity in midfield today and he can help address that. I'd also like to see Bielik and Marriott getting game-time as we'll be a very different proposition once they are fit and firing. Most of all, I'd like to see Max Lowe get a run of games. For me, he has almost Bogle-like potential and I'd be confident that he'd improve past Malone this season. Not a dig at Malone, just a firm belief that Max is going to be a very good player. His time at Aberdeen seems to have done him well.

Lastly, it's a real shame that some fans decided to get on Malone's back today. What do they think it will accomplish? Malone's been pretty steady for us since signing, without tearing up any trees and certainly ought to have enough 'credit in the bank' as a result to excuse him one poor display without being heckled by his own 'supporters'. Doubtless it was only a small minority but I do despair of the mindset anyway.

You're not a REAL fan unless you stay up until 1 in the morning to watch the highlights

Good watch. Never a pen, defender got there first and Bogle fell into the back of him. But apart from that we pulled a couple of decent moves and was a case of not quite on it rather than did nothing by the look of it. Appreciate I wasn't there and haven't seen the whole thing.

Nobody thought to mention this apparent new rule about goal kicks not needing to go out of the area?

Am I supposed to swot up every summer?  And why didn't I notice it watching Monday nights game?  I nearly showed myself up, good and proper!

Oh yeah... unbeaten and 4 points thus far.  Happy with that.

I know Huddersfield and Swansea looked poor but given that's 2 very recent prem teams in a row and given how few teams won both their opening games, we'd definitely take 4 points. Especially given that

A) Cocu hasn't had all that long working with the team really

B) Bielik and Holmes should add more mobility in our midfield

C) Paterson, who I assume will replace FloJo, is still to really come in

D) our CB partnership have only just come together, they should become even better in time

E) we were a missed pen away from 6 points

I thought the crowd (with the exception of a few Ill-informed ********* near me) were very good today.

However, I thought 27,000 for a first home fixture under a new manager was disappointing.

Agreed on the attendance, first home game, after a great win, with a new manager and plenty of new faces.

Definitely felt like two points dropped but interesting that Leeds, WBA and M'Boro all dropped points as well from games they'd have expected to win. Going to be a long tough season.

Bogle's injury worries me - he really was key to some of our best attacks and we have no specialist right back cover.

Clarke looks a great loan, no issues there.

Bielek and Holmes will hopefully make a difference whenever they're finally fit - be good to see Paterson, Shinnie, Marriott and maybe Knight get playing time at Scunthorpe

And hopefully some set piece training during the week...

You think you were confused? Lino in first half well confused, poor bloke thinks its now offside if the ball is headed by a defending player into your path.

Probably about right, wait until January, when the half season tickets are snapped up and attendances rise because of rooney, then when we lose they will feel their entitlement to be ill-informed **********, moaning they wouldnt have bought a season ticket if they had known we would lose or rooney might be named as a sub etc.

Good solid start. We’re ahead of where we were last season not just in terms of points but the way we’re playing, we had a lucky win against a poor reading, torn apart by Leeds and the next game was a defeat to Millwall. We’ve played two reasonable outfits and got 4 points. New signings need to adjust and Cocu needs to work with the squad more.

Yesterday was frustrating but positive in that we seem to have a very solid base on which to build. Something we have lacked. The midfield balance is wrong, didn’t get enough people forward in attacks, this should hopefully change with Holmes and Bielik, but we don’t have too many more like Holmes, genuine midfielders, when Paterson came on there were too many forward players and we didn’t really control midfield. Maybe Knight and Sibley are the answer to compete with Holmes and Dowell.

Hope Bogle’s injury isn’t too serious. Max did really well when he came on and is definitely pushing Malone for Left Back.

As for Malone, in my opinion he didn’t have a bad game at all. He played some tired passes in the last 10-15 mins which put us in trouble but had had a decent game to that point. Don’t get the criticism.

I do hope Malone is not becoming our team scapegoat for the season, seems to a be toss up with Waggy, Lawrence for now off the hook. Hardly anybody played that well apart from Clarke and Keogh. So give it a game or two.

The BBG the crowd were within spitting distance (literally) of the players and the "banter" in the 60's and 70's was a lot more vitriolic than now! Gladys used to get horrendous stick, although it never seemed to faze him.

Maybe someone needs to do a Cantona!

The Central Midfield balance is key for us this season. Hopefully Beilik will help with that. But feel like we another 2 windows to sort it out, ala farke and wilder with norwich and sheffield utd

I feel once bielik comes in and Holmes for Evans and Paterson for joz, we will look a different team going forward.

I wouldn't say that. From the sounds of things we had to go quite far down our list of wingers before we had to settle on getting Paterson in. I personally think we have enough quality to compete, but I don't think it necessarily means Cocu wouldn't want more or different wingers in if we could have secured them in the window.

I haven't seen anything from Cocu saying Paterson wasn't our First choice, in his interview he stated that he had known for a while he was coming but it took until the last day of the window to get him in, that doesn't mean to say he still wasn't Cocu's  First choice. He may well have been far down the list of wingers fans would have like to have seen brought in
