Am I the only person who cannot get excited in this nonsense PR stunt?

What salary will he be on?

How will his effective the squad?

He will be 34 in October, 18 month contract from Jan 2020 (ending summer 2022), so making him 36 at the end.

Depending on the contract, I cant see us benefitting or this ending well for us.

Can they do that? Is that OK?

Sponsors pay as much as they like, based on what they think they'll get out of the deal.

The same company could sponsor Barcelona and Shrewsbury, but they'd pay Barcelona a damn sight more for the privilege; because they're far higher profile.
The acquisition of Wayne Rooney raises our profile immensely, so we suddenly become a club that 32Red can justify spending a great deal more on for the privilege of being our shirt sponsor, therefore allowing us to afford Wayne Rooney.

It's properly genius by Mel, and more than OK.

In an ideal world, it wouldn't be a betting company; but hey ho. Can't have all the wins.

You’re actually spot on here. How would a second tier club POSSIBLY benefit from having one of the best ever footballers this country has produced play for them?

I’m racking my brains and I just cannot come up with anything.

People saying this is a PR stunt - of course it is and will help the club commercially but this lad at 34 years old when he joins will offer so much to the squad and a starting 11 whether he's in the team or not.

Also, the academy will benefit a lot. We are already the go to team above Leicester, Stoke and florist, this just makes even more players want to join for us to choose from. It's massssiiiiivvvve.

Two things concern me.

1. Will this block the way for one of our promising youngsters?

2. Will Cocu understand a single word he's talking about?

It’s a no on both counts
