Great move. The best thing about it is that it's only till January. I want George to start playing week in, week out, proving that he can do it. If he can demonstrate fitness and sharpness he might yet have a part to play for us, but he needs games and we can't afford to have him get them with us.

He was slightly injured during preseason, so he may yet be recovering from that. Even if he's not injured now though, he only featured for about 45 minutes for us in preseason, so I'd have been surprised if he did go straight into the team. It will probably take them a couple of weeks to get him up to speed again before they use him, a bit like how we had to get Bielik up to scratch here.

Some comments from the Oxford forum;

'On Thorne, it's evident that he's a very good passer of the ball but it's obvious he's still a good few weeks off of any sort of fitness. He looked knackered after 5 minutes on the pitch yesterday. When/if we can get him fit he could be a very useful player.'

'and Thorne is obviously class'.

'When Baptiste is fit, a midfield three of him, Thorne & Brannigan would be immense.'

'Agree with the comments re Thorn looked big and strong and good vision. Pen was first class!'

'Was good to see Thorne get some game time if he stays fit he will have a massive influence on our season. Boy can he pass a ball'

'George Thorne - very promising, needs to be fitter.'

'Thorne, too, as others have mentioned, played the QB role very well, fizzing passes into forward players' feet well.'

Sounds like our GT alright ?

Real shame for he lad as he had bags of talent but he’s sadly a mixture of made out of glass and very unlucky.

Ironic that as mentioned he’d have possible had a chance in our team if he had stayed.

Not sure what the future holds for him now, drop to the bottom of league 1 or even 2 and try and build his way up if he can stay fit?
