Archer injured. Probably through overbowling him. Another classic piece of Root captaincy.

Think it turned out to just be a bad cramp in the end I think but your point is valid, especially since he bowled most if not all his overs up the hill and into the wind. Kind of need Jimmy back to spread the load a bit or we'll burn the lad out in no time.

Well, a bit more resolute batting this afternoon.

Still a long way from even looking like chasing the win but sticking enough to repair a little self respect.

Its the hope that kills you. Hopefully nice blue sky's tomorrow, batters paradise and the Aussie bowlers have been out to Leeds Ritzy nightclub for a Fosters or 2.

I can already see tomorrow unfolding.

Australia start bowling hard the morning, but we see it through losing only one or two. We get up to something like 100 required and just a sniff of pulling off an incredible run chase.... And lose the last 4 for about ten runs in twenty minutes.

How many of us think this will go beyond lunch?

Root leading by example by being utterly useless. Should be ashamed of himself.

Worried by Root. As a young skipper you expect mistakes but he seems to be not learning from them, getting worse in his core batting skills and shot judgement and not having any sense of reflection.

Cook was a poor skipper too imo. Not a patch on Brearley and Strauss. Vaughan was quite good as well I guess. Not sure where England would go from here.

Could give it to Buttler. He’s so hopelessly out of form that the captaincy couldn’t possibly by a detriment to his batting.

Giving it to stokes could be a disaster. He’s our only good player.

As importantly - 6 overs done with the new ball. If we can get it to 15-20 overs old then it should become less fearsome in terms of movement and bounce. What we don't want is for the middle order to look at this as though its a 1-day target.

We also didn’t want the captain, the captain for crying out loud, to come dancing down the pitch to Australia’s 2nd most successful spinner ever.
