Bob The Badger
I have been really disappointed with the way this whole situation *appears* to have been handled. But, appears is the operative word because none of us know what was truly happening between Frank and Mel and the two clubs. If Mel is prepared to come out and say Frank has done no wrong and he wishes him well, then I can get onboard with that. When I see Derby fans claiming on Twitter that Frank threw the final and that his heart was never in the club it really irks me. Why on earth would he do the former? And the dressing room scenes alone after the Leeds game alone should have demonstrated his emotional investment. When we inevitable draw Chelsea in a cup competition I'd like him to get a good reception and not be hearing boos ringing around PP. I'm still not convinced he'll be a great manager and we may breath a collective sigh of relief as we pass Chelsea coming down as we go up under the mighty Cocu next May - but he did give us the most exciting season of football in a very long time. In Mel I trust.
Comrade 86
Not seen anyone suggesting that Frank chucked the playoff final myself but obviously trust that you have and am appalled. This is primarily why I avoid Twatter as while it does have it's uses, it's also a bilious, swirling cesspit of no-life troll types who will gladly spew up any amount of filth in the desperate hunt for retweets. It's all moot now to my mind anyway. We have Cocu so let's look forwards not back.

minesahartington
I do respect Mel. I also respect each and every one of his appointments. At the time of each one it was a good appointment. Clement the exciting visionary.. .Even Pearson was heralded as a necessary hardliner who would "sort them out" Rowett was coveted and i genuinely thought it was sour grapes when Brum fans laughed at work. Little did i know.. I could possibly criticise some of the departures, particularly the timing. But as i am not party to the detail i have to trust in him, and i do. I really enjoyed last season. Not to have the mid season malaise was a pleasure.. I am now excited about the new season.

LittleEatonRam
I'm becoming a bigger convert to the Mel Morris Fan Club by the day. His first few months (or even year) were marked by clumsy forays into the media, transfer market and the limelight, but he's red hot at the moment. Rammy03
Frank loved his time with us and I'm wanted to stay. You could see his passion and emotional investment in many games. He bought the good feeling back to the club and had a great relationship with us fans. Anyone who says otherwise is talking nonsense. Chelsea is his club and couldn't turn the job down, that's all there is to it. End of. So let's all remember what a great ride we had and applaud him when we see him again. Do not be idiots and boo, he is not rowett.

Personally I think the last year or so has proven more and more to me that the 'odd behaviour' that was rumoured back in the day was more about Sam Rush than Mel - Uncle Mel seems to have his head screwed on right and since Rush left and he's had to take a step forward into the limelight everything he says is sensible, well thought out and passionately for the best of a club he obviously loves I feel more and more like drone-gate and dressing-room-rant-gate must be nonsense rumours which should have been quashed by Rush and his team - The Mel we've finally got to know just doesn't seem the type to do that
rammieib
Only one poster has put that rubbish up about the play-off final. MM has handled this whole situation with class and dignity from start to finish. Lampard lost some respect from me by putting his holiday over his career. No reason for me he couldn’t have sorted Chelsea out first then had his break away. Jody, one twitter picture aside of him kissing the shirt, has been good and a very excellent goodbye from him. I give Mel enormous credit. He’s taken a situation and turned it on it’s head immediately. Without Cocu fans would have been angry at FL, then if no manager comes in, would have turned frustration onto MM. He’s not only stopped that, but we’ve got a manager who on paper is better, the team and structure is in place and we’re £5-7m better off. Well played Mel. That sounds like a straw man description from somebody who doesn't understand what a straw man argument is but likes the phrase, or hasn't been following the board. I've seen literally dozens of posts from people attacking Frank on here and Twitter for the way he's handled this. I myself have griped about it and somebody in this thread isn't happy that Frank put his holiday first. So my post was aimed at those people and they do exist

As for disrespecting Mel, not a peep on here, in this thread or elsewhere on this forum. If anything Mel has emerged from this episode with his reputation enhanced, so why do we need this thread? It's a nonsense argument.

It's a nonsense argument. I obviously didn't explain myself very well. I meant we should respect the fact that he wishes Frank well and trust that he knows to wish him well. In other words, I think that alludes to Frank not being snakish. All along I have said that if Mel was kept in the picture and he was okay with how it was being managed, then that's fine.
