We are the form team... almost

Recommended Posts

Over the last 12 Championship games - that's more than a quarter of a season - Derby sit fourth in the form table. Only Villa (who are on the hottest of hot streaks) and the two promoted clubs have done better than the Rams.

Only two defeats in that time (only one in the last 10 games).

We have earned our place in the top six and there is nothing to suggest we won't stay in there come Sunday afternoon.

Trust in the stats! (or, at least the ones that are in our favour!)

Spot on. Years of pain being a derby fan isn’t logic. The facts are what you have outlined and based on the facts there is absolutely no reason not to be confident

Good job we won't have to face any of the teams above us in the form table in the playoffs then

Oh wait... ?

Oh wait... ?

If you are referring to Villa, we won't be playing them. Their bubble is bursting at West Brom in the semis....

?

The season's not played over 12 games though is it, not sure how you can draw the conclusion that we deserve to be in the top 6 on the basis of being 4th in the form book over 12 matches.

On that basis, the fact is we deserve to be 6th today... right now.

With only one game to go, that's pretty good going in my book, and worth hanging around, to see how it all pans out after that 46th game, on Sunday.

Not sure if this is a wind up ... we deserve to be in the top 6 cos that is where we are with one game to go! Not difficult.

I assume the point of the original poster is that there are reasons to be confident for the final match. There's nowt to justify about our position.

Yeah, think we deserve to be 6th by virtue of having more points than the teams in 7th and 8th.

Just a wild guess, mind!

The stats suggest that eh? ?

Why go back 12 games? Lets just go back 7 games and we are second behind Villa.

It's nice to think that our usual post-xmas meltdown has been somewhat corrected?

Get this... if we go back 45 games were 6th in the form table ?

Before a ball was kicked at the start of the season, the opening table had us in 7th.  There has been a tremendous amount of piss and wind spouted over the last 9 months for us to move up only one place.  Let’s hope we can hold on to it given the effort expended.

I was completely dispondant after the two draws at Brentford and, particularly, Brum as I felt we would lose to Bristol and only get a point at Swansea but the team welcomely shoved it in my face by getting a huge win at Bristol. The run of form post the Villa debacle flew a little under the radar for me personally as there were a few too many draws in games which I felt they should have won to be serious playoff contenders, but by hook or by crook Lampard and the team have got themselves into a strong position to grab that playoff place and fully deserve it if they do.
