The Rams along with Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday are keen to sign the 25-year-old attacking midfielder this summer, according to TEAMtalk . Premier League sides Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion along with Scottish Premiership clubs Celtic and Rangers are also said to be keen on the player, whose contract is up at the end of the season. TeamTalk is also claiming that German sides RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in Powell. Make it happen Frankie
RamLad1884
At the bottom of a very long list of decent clubs there. Can't see him turning his nose up at any of those clubs for us unless we were a Prem team.

Plus - Most of those other sides would probably be offering him a rotation spot - We're going to have a complete lack of CMs next year so he'll walk into the team ? First team football, decent wage, decent crowd to moan at him, better place to live than wigan...I'd say we are towards the top of the list

Can't see us going for big fee, high profile players.
ramsbottom
Couldn't see him fitting in at Burnley & Brighton unless they have different managers, if all reported clubs are indeed interested in him, I reckon he'd go to Celtic or Rangers. Live like a king for three seasons, and a guaranteed crack at silverware every year. Saying that, with him being an attacking midfielder, we have an ace in the hole with The Frank Effect... Millenniumram
He’s best as a number 10 from what I recall, and since we don’t play that system (unless we switch to a 4231 which wouldn’t make much sense to me), he wouldn’t really fit our system. Playing him regularly as a centre mid would be a square peg in a round hole imo, occasionally would be alright but to sign him for that role would be poor recruitment imo, need to be signing players to fit roles in a team and philosophy not just big names. Excellent player mind, proper player who makes stuff happen even if he lacks a little in his overall game. Will be a good signing for whoever gets him, but if he’s got premier league offers this is clearly only a realistic one if we’re promoted regardless. I believe it makes perfect sense based on the players we're currently going to have next season. 5 DMs (Huddlestone, Bird, Evans, Shinnie and Thorne), and only 1 AM (Holmes). The addition of Powell would mean we have strong competition for Holmes

Would rather us sign some proper centre mids and play a proper 433 than the sorta half 433 half 4231 that we have this season. Might see a better midfield if we do so. Wouldn’t call Holmes a 10 either, and a couple of those dms aren’t your traditional cdms, more defensive minded cms imo. We’ve been (trying) to build a 433 system since franks arrival so I’d be surprised if he moved away from it, though pre season should tell us more I suspect. Very much doubt Powell would be happy being competition either, think he’d have to be a regular if we were to sign him.

Huddlestone, Thorne Evans and Bird all predominantly play as DMs, although the latter two can play in a more advanced role. Shinnie supossedly plays as the DM in a 3 man midfield or more often than not as one of the 2 DMs in a 4231 3 minutes ago, Millenniumram said: We’ve been (trying) to build a 433 system since franks arrival so I’d be surprised if he moved away from it, though pre season should tell us more I suspect. He's only started 23 (subbed on in 5) of Wigan's 42 league games this season. Even at Wednesday, I'd find it hard to see him displacing Reach as their first choice AM, so he'll start and play more games here.

Ambitious
Notoriously bad trainer, despite having huge ability. The exact type of player I imagine would leave Lampard ripping his hair out. I'd also argue that those who would start the sentence 'if anyone could get him to work hard, Lampard...' remember he was afforded the opportunity of a lifetime at United to work under SAF, but still couldn't bring himself to get his head down. He's done well this season, but has still found it difficult to play consistent and get a start for Wigan week-in, week-out. I'd like him here, but would not at all be surprised if this was a signing that, if made, failed to live up to expectation.
