In today's most hilarious news

British communications watchdog Ofcom has fined RT 200.000 Pounds for failing to preserve due impartiality in their news and current affairs programs.

No large news network preserves due impartiality, it's just a matter of which propaganda one chooses to get spoon-fed, but no, now the wrong propaganda must be condemned and fined and outlawed and blabla.  Shameless psychotic shenanigans, but i suppose few will even raise an eyebrow over it.  Crazy western world which gets nuttier by the day

Exactly. They offer an interesting perspective with a lot of good journos working for them. It was even their interview of the two Russian agents who went to Canterbury that totally ridiculed the pair.

I actually did a couple of interviews on Russia Today the weekend before last and was just spouting what I hope were interesting opinions of my own, not Kremlin propaganda. But I'm fully aware there's no such thing as impartiality and Offcomm should be too. On one of the shows while I was waiting to go on air I was sitting in the "gallery" with the production crew and producers. Some people were a bit concerned about what was being broadcast (they were naming people who'd been on the Epstein "Lolita Express"), but they were reassured to hear that particular show wasn't "offcommable". The offices/studios are in Millbank Tower overlooking the Houses of Parliament, which is funny. Here's the view, a peek into the studio and what inside the RT Gallery looks like.

Overlooking the Houses of Parliament eh, that is amusing.  Placing a telescope in their window would be funny, but probably not a good idea, the CTC would likely be on them like a shot.

The situation regarding freedom of broadcasting is in little better state in my locale.  A radio station called Útvarp Saga is mainly talk radio, they invite people from a wide range of positions in life for interviews and grilling and people can call in to explain their views on various topics of the day, or whatever else is on their minds.  The station gets harshly ridiculed by members of the establishment, accused of dangerous views, of being nutters, xenophobes, racists or just plain old Nazi's because they dare to speak openly about taboo subjects such as immigration, to name one example.  Admitting to listening to the station occasionally will get one tainted with the same labels by many of our good citizens, who amusingly claim to support free speech but within strict sensible limits of course, heh.

Thanks for the pics, very interesting inside look.  Any chance of links to your interviews?

Only counts in UK so hope you aren't going to Scotland or N Ireland

I know some leave supporters would like NI to be separated from the UK to make achieving brexit easier.  But I didn't realize that Scotland and NI have already become independent from the rest of the UK.

Liars!

And I bet the people swayed by them three years ago won't have the guts to read it.

You are correct it was all lies we should gone by now three years is far too long but the shameful remain parliament have handed all the cards to to the EU so it's no deal but that's better than a bad deal.

Say it isn't so! Me and my pals are always saying that when the thought police become too intrusive here we'll move to Iceland.

Indeed it's gorgeous George. He has me on his Sputnik (Orbiting the World) talk show where you have him and his wife interviewing you. But you are given no advance warning of anything and I felt I was rubbish, totally unprepared. I never finished answering a question before going on to the next one. But the picture I posted is when he had me back a couple of days later for what I thought was radio (the Mother of All Talk Shows) but it turned out to be live streamed too. And they said we'd have an hour from 9-10pm on Sunday night, so I thought it would be a gentle chat, maybe with a few callers, probably discussing space travel and astronomy. But it turned out to be a wham bam 10 minute interview with more random questions. But this time I was a bit more ready.

Nice of Ramit to ask so the link to the second interview is:

Have to say George was incredibly lovely and he and his wife have now invited me over for lunch. You'll see we're talking about my new book, but as this is the politics thread I'll say I do hope he succeeds in his new campaign to stand against Tom Watson. George will be an independent socialist Brexit candidate.

Here's one for the Trump fans amongst you. Enjoy!

If it was in a film or a TV programme, you wouldn't believe the Prseident of the USA could act like he does. The fact that it is real-life and he does act like this ....... and keeps doing so is scary.

Before the internet and social media though he could have appeared quite normal...... which is even scarier.

The most racist institution is the EU only 2% of the 751 meps are non white, if you are that concerned about racism in other countries why have you or any other of the SJW on this forum never reported this??

The correct figure is 5%, not 2%, and that's from a Daily Express article from 2 weeks ago.

If it were a fair representation of ethnicity across the EU countries, the figure should be more like 10% - but you seem to be implying that is the fault of the elected representatives of the EU parliament and not the fault of the electorate who put them there. Are you actually saying that the EU have forced people to vote in favour of whites, or are you actually saying that the people who actually did the voting are the EU?

It must be one or the other, seeing as you have openly accused the EU of racism.

As a footnote, that 5% figure is also the same as non-white representation in the House of Lords, so they must be equally as racist as the EU by your argument, and the 8% non-white representation in the House of Commons given an overall 14% non-white population of the UK is little better than the EU figures.

I agree with all you say here @eddie You would also have to go back to each country prior to voting in the MEP's and see what percentage were actually non-white candidates in the first place to suggest whether it was a racist stance not to elect them.

If the current 5% of MEPs were the only ones up for election in the first place then there is no argument.  If however there were 10 -20% or more then maybe so.

I hope this makes sense

Makes perfect sense to me. It will baffle some though, but what's new?

After all, the Welsh secretary, Alun Cairns, said today that if Welsh sheep farmers are disadvantaged by the 40% tariffs which will come in on their exports of lamb to their biggest market (the EU), then they should take advantage of the new free-trade deal that has just been set up with Japan and export their goods there.

Just one small problem - the new free-trade deal is between Japan and the EU, which we will no longer be a part of, so the 40% tariff will still apply.

Thursday's by-election will be interesting - it's in 'sheep country'.

2% as off 2014-2019 during the EU referendum when remainers complained people wanting to leave the EU were racist but never pointed out the EU could be accused of racism themselves due to the low numbers of non white people in the EU parliament.

House of Lords should scrapped.
