Sure, but it definitely sours things for me. If Chelsea just approached and Lampard went then fine, best of luck, we move on. Now I can't help but wish for Chelsea to fail just to shut up Drogba, Ferdinand and co.

The worst thing about it if they did is that lot would just turn around and say 'I told you so, it's too soon' about Lampard.

Not that I'm bothered, the hollibobs trolling by his Missus did for my last ounce of caring.

Thought I was the only one that found that in poor taste. Not exactly respectful towards the club that employs him, is it? Cheerio Frank, I don't give a toss.

But people equally still will watch the 5-0 Lupoli volley, Southampton semi, Wembley ‘07, beating Leeds at Elland Road for the first time in how many years, beating Stoke, the 3-2 Forest comeback, Commons vs United… it’s moments like that that define a season and what become the narrative.

17/18 didn’t really have any moments that jumped out at you other than Vydra in 24 seconds.

I just don’t think Frank deserves fawning over.

He has done a fairly good but unremarkable job and yet it’s...

Rowett? Snake.

Jewell? Porn star.

Clough? Clueless, non league Nigel.

Davies? Poisoned dwarf.

Frank? Thanks for the memories.

I don’t get it.

I believe his missus would've been totally oblivious to the background song and it was more likely the sycophantic hangers-on doing it (selecting the song)

If Frank had left us for WBA then I imagine the reception would be different, perhaps even the Newcastle job. I agree Frank did a good but unremarkable job, but no reason to not wish him well. It's the media circus that's been painful, not his actions. I wish him well - I really do. I have no reason not to. Rowett went to Stoke and bragged about the odds on their promotion. Jewell was caught up in a sex tape. Clough was here through a very dreary time of being a Derby fan where a top half finish looked to be an impossible achievement. Davies, well, you don't need me to tell you why he's disliked. Frank is leaving for a Champions League club.

We're in a very good position on and off the field. We just need to get this summer right.

So.... When we beat Leeds people were calling Frank a Derby legend and I got quickly shot down for disagreeing.

Is he still a legend now? ?

Only where Dirty L**ds are concerned.

"Our romance won't end on a sorrowful note
Though by tomorrow you're gone
The song has ended but as the songwriter wrote
The melody lingers on...

No they can't take that away from me
The way your smile just beams
The way you sing off key
The way we beat Dirty L**ds
No, no they can't take that away from me

We may never never meet again, on that bouncy road to L**ds
Still I'll always, always keep the memory of...

The way we beat Dirty L**ds"

the one where the bar put on a song in the background?  If so, harsh and unfair

It's because he's a glamorous name, and ex-England player who's young and famous and in the media a lot, and because a lot of football fans have a deeply buried love for the big clubs given that they watch them on Sky/BT/MOTD week in week out. If he was some guy we'd got from League One nobody would give this much of a poo.

Rowett? Snake. (Solid, effective, but never endeared himself and ultimately left on bad terms to direct rivals*)

Jewell? Porn star. (Not a good manager, but hardly his fault being hired when he was, he was fighting a losing battle.)

Clough? Clueless, non league Nigel. (Unfair, potentially saved us from going the way of Ipswich.)

Davies? Poisoned dwarf. (Very good Championship manager, but a paranoid, awful little man who soured our promotion minutes after the final whistle and has gone on to prove himself to be unstable.)

Frank? Thanks for the memories. (Still our manager, raised the profile of our club, created a strong bond with the fans, introduced youth into the side and showed promise)

*Not so direct rivals as it turned out

The way I'm dealing with this is to see us and Frank as like a holiday romance. Whilst the sun is shining and everything is rosy then you promise each other the earth. We know in our hearts that their is no longevity in our relationship but we endeavour to enjoy our time together and meet up again in Blighty. However that bar steward Frank has only gone and nailed his ex in the departure lounge toilets on the way home and whats more has bragged about it to all his mates. I feel dirty.
