Ipswich Town vs Derby County Match Thread

Teams have off nights and draw or lose unexpectedly, but the frustration with the Ipswich result is magnified because it isn’t a one off poor result, there have been other games where really if we had played better and had our heads on we would have wiped the floor with them, no game is a gimme, but we should really have a bigger points haul from games against certain opposition than we actually got

Sorry but you spouting utter poo as usual.

YES we are a work in progress, new manager, different ideas and tactics. He's had to sell our top scorer to try and get some new blood into our previously failed squad.

"any team that thinks they are going to get promoted should be stuffing them". Like i said before, this ain't fantasy football pal. Villa, sheff utd and Norwich all have promotion in mind wouldn't you say?, did they stuff em?. NO....Just quit because you sound more like a petulant child than a derby supporter.

Oh....so you are saying it is a good result then.....?

Happy with the point, the following weeks and results will tell us if this is a point we’ll earned when we see what Ipswich manage to get points in the bag from there up coming home games until end of season

I guess the alarming thing is not that we are not stuffing x or y but that for a protracted period, the side has passed poorly when it should be getting more attuned.

Our goal-makers have been disappointing for a number of weeks and our chief goalscorer seems to be on the naughty step.

It's frustrating watching a team that gives the ball away so often.

Ipswich must have thought it was Christmas again and were unlucky not to win.

Who is on the naughty step? Wilson is our top scorer and played and Marriott is returning from illness and an ankle injury.

And as for the side being attuned, Johnson played his first game for weeks and King has never played in this side before.

Okay so on Wednesday one player was making his first start and one was rejoining a team he has played for many times before - out of 11.

That doesn't explain why the others couldn't pass to each other. We haven't suddenly changed personnel.

Marriott has been out a while now with basically a bruise amid comments from Lampard about his general fitness.

This is what gets me about This side, they can’t do the basics. How many goals have we shipped from giving the ball away in freekicks, throw ins, goal kicks etc? We’re supposed to be a footballing side, we don’t much look like one

Marriott has not been the same player since that shocking tackle just before HT against Boro. He came out 2 nd half and played other games afterwards but that tackle definitely did some damage. I suspect his eagerness to make light of the problem and continue playing have compounded the problem. Don’t know where this bolux about naughty step came from. He’s injured pure and simple but if he’s back, fully fit for the run in, it puts us in with a massive chance of reaching the play offs and winning them. If we have to rely on Nugent we can forget it.

Really hope you're right mate (and no reason to think you're not).

Marriott looking a real find until pulis's cloggers got to him. The bloke who thought arsene wengers criticism of a shawcross leg-breaker was not acceptable....

So basically you're saying you're happy with a point but you'll have to wait until a few more weeks to see if you're happy with a point after you've seen Ipswich's other results at home.

Okay then.

Thing is if our trip to that neck of the woods saw us get 4 pts with a draw at Norwich and a win at Ipswich we would be happy.

The championship is hard,  look at last season we lost to Sunderland at home and Burton away within a few days.

There might be some of those type results yet Paul.

Everything has to be judged situationally imho. We had a good result and performance at the weekend,  made a couple of changes but nothing too drastic, and then all our players seem to lose the basics.

So...a lost opportunity. Nothing more.

By way of comparison- look how crap our 0-3 capitulation to villa looks now - they've done Jack since!

Thats not because the championship is hard. Thats because we were shiiite.

Was hoping to have a good trip out for this, wasn't exactly as hoped... Plenty of Ipswich fans on the way home proclaiming it was the most fight/desire/best performance they had seen all season, but definitely felt like we made them look good.

Aside from the general let down of the game, was particularly disappointed by the group before kickoff who thought it was fun to chant a series of comments at one of the lasses behind the bar - nobody goes to work to have that sort of stuff shouted at them.
