Quite right. The western bit of Cameroon went to the UK and the eastern bit to the French. In 1960 in a referendum the northern bit of British Cameroon opted to merge with Nigeria and the southern bit of British Cameroon opted to merge with French Cameroon hence that is why the SW part of Cameroon today speak English and there is a lot of fighting because the English speakers want to break away.
