After ditching the 2nd season of The Unforgotten two episodes in because it contained some of the most ludicrous plot flaws since Your Honor we started watching Bosch.

Largely because of the reviews on here tbh.

I can't make my mind up 5 or 6 episodes in.

I really like the character and I think Titus Welliver is a really charismatic actor who owns the screen, but it almost seems like they have two scriptwriters.

I know something like that will have multiple scriptwriters, but I mean that they're working in different rooms and not allowed to see what the other is writing.

There's some great writing and random realistic stuff included and then they'll throw in something so cliched that it drives me nuts, or there will be a silly plot flaw that could easily have been rectified.

Anyway, I shall stick with it and try and be 95 or 96% less judgmental because the good bits are good.

Stick with it. I think it just keeps getting better and the characters develop through the seasons. There are also some plotlines that span multiple seasons too, which makes it more satisfying.

I started watching "The Kominsky Method" on Netflix a couple of nights ago - It really is just awesome. Two old guys pontificating on life as they get older. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. Nothing ground breaking, just really funny and poignant at times.

Doesn't immediately sound like it should be good, but as a 61 yo it has me in hysterics at times

Give it a try

Michael Palin's Hemingway Adventure.

It's just been doing the rounds on BBC 4 again (think it's from about 1999).

Follows Palin as he travels from Chicago, Hemingway's birthplace, to amongst other places, Pamplona and Valencia for the bullfighting, to Africa for the hunting and plane crashes, and to Key West for a lookalike competition.

Good stuff, gives the controversial side of Hemingway enough airtime without dishing out judgement and treats the viewer with intelligence.

They don't make them like they used to.

Watching Mortimer & Whitehouse : Gone Fishing (yet again!).

Never been much of a fan of either of them before but in this they just gel brilliantly. Find myself grinning so many times in what is just a 30 minute programme. You don't need to have any interest in fishing to enjoy it.

It’s excellent isn’t It.? I find myself wanting to be nicer to people after watching It.!

I started watching Sex/Life on Netflix the other day….it’s basically porn on Netflix, rubbish.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finished watching Baptiste this week on iPlayer, although I have no clue how I dragged myself through it.

More ploy flaws than Money Heist and more overacting than Your Honor with a twist that will have you wondering when the twist is coming.

Season 1 was just ok after spinning off from the excellent Missing, but it's now time to finish this off.

Update on Bosch. Finished season 2 and it was definitely better than 1. I shall stick with it some more.

I'm not sure if this has come up before because it originally came out a few years ago so may have been on the BBC or somewhere else, but I *think* Sky have only just picked it up.

The Night Of is absolutely outstanding 2 episodes in.

It's the antithesis of Baptiste with brilliant acting, a tight plausible script and some very atmospheric settings and camera work.

There appears to be one plot flaw that is bugging me, but I'm hoping it will be explained.

Loved that. Great acting, especially by the legal guy.

Rewatched 'Sunderland Til I Die'.

Enjoyed it first time round but with Derby in the tail spin we are in, it was even more compelling this time.

Gives so much insight into the way clubs operate, how players mess clubs about, how injuries and off the field incidents can dramatically alter the fortunes, how an owners attitude can filter through the club - would recommend any Derby fan to watch it and reflect.

It's good isn't it - makes you snuggle into your armchair with a cup of tea and digestive and just smile at the TV.

'Bloodline' on Netflix.

Similar in nature to 'Dallas', i.e. rich family dominates local society by fair means or foul - misdemeanors overlooked, ignored or swept under the carpet, but then one day, someone goes a little too far.

Lots of flashbacks, but so far, nobody has woken up in the shower - yet.

Loving it.

Loved Bloodline. Ben Mendelsohn is great.

Didn’t think I’d like series two but did. Found concentration wavering in series three.
