Brilliant TV - funny, bloody scary, emotional. Loved the first series, really feel it fell off after then. Think this Manchester /Ibiza thing will be my next binge, anyone seen it? @86 Schmokes & a Pancake have you tried Gangs of London...very interested how you see it compared to Giri Haji. Bumped into a friend on the park and he started last night and was raving about the 'cleaver' fight, but his wife was very unsure.

Let's be honest, you walk into a room and there's a giant wearing bloodstained y fronts and wellies, holding a meat cleaver dripping with blood, and you don't put 6 bullets in him first then ask questions? Mostyn6
Have binged 7 seasons of Homeland only to discover i can only find three episodes of S8! i think opinions here were fare, it does tail off into uninteresting stories and remain unrealistic. The dialogue is stilted and it makes little sense but if you want to kick back for some escapist nonsense it passes the time. There are random orgy scenes to distract you. GoL is entertaining in parts but not really in the same league for me. It's different folks, different strokes though, innit? I don't think GoL sets out to deliver memorable characters so much as memorable fight scenes and on that level, it's hard to argue that it falls short, but Giri I absolutely loved, for reasons already detailed. It will be meat and drink though I would have thought for any Socialist/Remainers who frequent this forum. I think there are a couple. He just has to show footage of a Trump speech or a Johnson powerpoint and the satire is already written. Was a decent effort to put the programme together, but didn't reach previous heights. i-Ram

I must have watched the yard sale episode 10 times. Love that one. If you like that, then I'd recommend Life in Pieces as well. Watched 9 series of it and loved it, but after a while tried season 10 but felt it wasn't as good anymore. Is it worth persisting?

Mick Brolly
Watching Maigret for the first time tonight finding it a good watch but struggling to watch Rowan Atkinson without thinking of Mr Bean or captain slackbladder. RoyMac5
Mostyn6
Having to watch the final episode of Gangs of London again, because I was distracted so that i didn’t realise it had wrapped up. Got to be honest, the action was good and i now know at least thirty more ways of killing someone, but found the plot and the characters flimsy. also, is that Darling (Blackadder) being all shady and powerful in the back of the limo? Thought Lucian Msamati and Brian Vernel were decent but nobody else except the mad, cleaver-weilding, welly-wearing pikey was remotely memorable. Joe Cole I thought was a bit of a let down for me. Really liked him in Peaky Blinders and A Prayer Before Dawn. To be fair, I think it's intended as a wild and crazy ride and it delivers on that score, but it could have been immense. Reminded me a bit of The Raid which was several levels higher still on the adreno scale but with even less plot. I'd give it a 7/10 I think. It felt rushed to me, where some dramas drag it out, they’ve crammed far too much in too short a period of time, in both the story/plot and in delivery on screen. Some of the elements deserved more substance, certainly any back story on the Albanians and Nigerians would’ve helped, as for the power people for me just didn’t offer any closure. Comrade 86
Watched The Night Manager on the weekend which a lot of mates were raving about when it came out. No uprooted trees as such, but it's worth a watch for those who've not seen it. ariotofmyown and therealhantsram

I won't like it! Let me know if it is worth a look. Gangs of London was just a total headrush action scene, onto slightly clunky dialogue and several interesting but rushed storylines and then another breath taking action scene. Definitely more good points than bad. I'd give it 8.5 DEVs is my current thing... Seem to recall you were unimpressed? So far.. I am watching and it looks nice and the cast is good but its not gripping me. Comrade 86

There's a massive plot hole in that all these other gangs relied on their protection and say so to operate, yet they were spectacularly poo at the protection side. Dialogue, plot, action and believability were beyond awful, yet it's still the best thing I've seen during lockdown. Switch the brain off, and enjoy the nonsense would be my advice.
