Racism.

The Chelsea fans abuse at sterling definitely appears to racist.

Its quiet clear who they are too so i expect similar consequences for them as the guy at spurs.

I still think lifetime bans seems a bit much but surely a 3 year ban is in order.

I think their bigger concerns should be turning up for work tomorrow,  it would be easy to understand an employer deciding that they aren't the sort of people they would want working for them.

Strange that.

I was reading the John Terry thread from 2011 and it's just been pulled.

Nothing personal of course.

I was reading that as well. Lots of people on that thread that no longer post.

Its was interesting to see that some of the feelings towards racism (pro and anti) in 2011 still holds true nowadays, and how time can erase memories when Terry was mentioned pre season for DCFC.

I saw Anton Ferdinand play a few weeks ago as well.

There were 2 people of colour a couple of seats down from him as well, a steward and a fellow supporter. Bet they had a few choice words for him.

It means you are commenting on their physique and believing yours is superior, why else use it.

However they are not comparable in any shape or form, suggesting there is a uniformity in prejudice between the 2 is wrong in my opinion, racism is based on race or ethnicity.

Sorry but I’m going to bow out with discussing this with you, you are entitled to your opinion but it’s not one I will ever agree on.

I appreciate your response and your opinion.

I wasn't really comparing sizeism  (if there is such word) and racism.

Just using an example that people use words to get a reaction that may not reflect their actual opinions on certain subjects.

Yes really.

If you call someone a fat whatever does it mean you hate all fat people and think you are better than them?

Not that you hate all fat people, but "fat" is added to the insult because the insult-er views it as a negative or undesirable characteristic.

Not seen or heard about the Sterling incident yet so can't comment though.

Well?

I thought it was Sterling being a prat again, but no, he's buying a house for his mam. As is another young white footballer. See how they both get treated by the media.

I'll call it for you - RACISM!

Outside of the twitter video which deserves a full investigation on its own. The way he's made his point is brilliant. Putting the 2 stories side by side means it's impossible to ignore or argue against.

A watershed moment for the press me thinks. Who DO drive and in some cases encourage a lot of the racism in our society.

Well played young man, well played.

A very good point, just because the police don’t charge somebody, doesn’t mean they are not guilty of the offence.

Throwing a banana on the pitch for me is racially motivated, I don’t buy into the i  found it on the floor story, however an opinion means nothing, to convict someone.

Any racism is wrong, there is no justification for it whatsoever, He used racist language but is not a racist....really ?

Yes Really.

Trevor Sinclair was convicted of racism towards a police officer after being arrested for drink driving in Blackpool earlier this year. Do I think he is a racist no he is married to a white woman and was drunk when he made his racist remarks.   He is however a victim of the left wing propaganda machine of no reverse racism,  white privilege, white fragility, only black people get arrested campaign which has only been invented to divide the people along racial lines to prove that non white people are victims of racism everyday and that voting for socialism is the only way out of this problem . People who use this tactic to gain votes are disgusting.

Sterling has been unfairly singled out by the press for not scoring enough goals for England for a long time if he has backed the press into a corner fair play too him to many of the press think they are judge and jury.

Lot of opinion from people who most likely never experienced racism in this thread. Oh well, I'm sure they don't mean anything wrong.

Assuming you are including me in this comment.

My best friend growing up at school was  black.

For 14 years I worked for a predominantly Asian firm with predominantly Asian clients.

So I'd say I've been in a pretty decent position to witness racism and hear the views of people subject to it.

Not that it's of any real relevance.

I don't know anyone that's been murdered or raped but I also have opinions on them subjects. I'm guessing you don't?

I'm on  about what happened at Stamford Bridge.

The 2 stories he has highlighted in the press for me are nothing to do with racism.

Foden up and coming England star.

Other guy I've never even heard of and would have no idea what colour he is.

Thought the second story was trying to highlight how much players that most people have never even heard of are earning  £20k a week in the Premier League.

Of course I could be wrong and they could just be running the story because he is black.

Life time ban all along. 3 years isn't going to change their view on this matter.

Place a life time ban on all racism, violence or any other offensive, abusive and threatening behaviour and maybe just maybe these idiots will get the message.

No place in any sport.

Banter is one thing.

Giving them a lifetime ban won't change their views either, they will just take their racist views elsewhere.

Isn't rehabilitation the way forward?

My argument is one of prevention.

If everyone knows the rules AND the rules are enforced. Then no one is under any misconception as to what the punishment will be.

Surely this would go a long way to stamping out this behaviour in the future.
