What @Carl Sagan said is correct regardless of the result of this experiment. We simply have a very close to 50/50 chance of having two people with the same birthday in the first 23 respondents in our first attempt.  We'd need to repeat this many times over, in an unbiased manner, before we have proved or disproved anything.

23rd March.

I'm sure you're right. @Carl Sagan is the scientist - I am just conducting an informal unscientific social experiment for a bit of fun!

15 birthdays and no direct match so far. (I'm not counting relatives; we can all do that one!)

Jesus Christ!

It's a weird coincidence that this thread came up. I noticed that two of our player's mothers had the same maiden name and it got me thinking if that was the case with anyone on here. Mine's is Phisher.

Oy! Start your own thread (after you've told me your birthday!)

Interesting stuff. I would never put my real birthday on an internet forum (sorry!), but without reading a single other entry in the thread I've picked a random day of 17th February as the maths of matching is the same whether it's a birthday or any random date.

So, unless that's a double-bluff, the fraudsters only have 364 days of the year to pick from. I created The Science of Spying at the Science Museum a few years ago and it left me paranoid.

My official birthday is the 3rd of August.

At somewhere I used to work, the secretary got it wrong, so I went in that day to cake and presents and decorations.

I hadn't the heart to tell them, and although I left there about fifteen years ago, I still celebrate it, as it's nice having two.

I like that,a few years ago I thought I was 43 but I was 42,so when it was my birthday and I was actually 43 I felt like I’d been given an extra year.

I now realise that’s nothing like your story.
