Carl Sagan
We were living in America where there wasn't the slightest interest in "soccer" so were unable to see the tournament. We only heard about the Rams from phonecalls or letters from home, until one day we found a Canadian radio station that would announce the English football results. The terrible presenter was called "the village idiot" and was infuriating, breaking off partway for little asides and anecdotes - and probably going to a commercial break mid-score. But at least I wasn't scarred for life by watching Peter Sutcliffe on the telly.
Stive Pesley
I remember being a little kid and all the adults being huddled around a tiny B&W TV. I was too young to remember any games or understand what was going on That photo though ? I'm sure today's football fashions will look equally as daft in 2058. I hope for their sake that we have made some decent advances in tattoo removal technologies by then at least
