You’re never going to be ignored mate.

Anyone who finishes every post with a smile is too positive to ignore.

It scares the poo out of me that ordinary hard working Brits even recognise this parody of pagan worship to scare off ghosts, just because Americans do.

Haha my opinion couldn't be further from that. I love haloween - my 7 year old claims to love haloween more than christmas!

Fair enough, just didn't seem a big thing when I was young. All efforts at this time of the year were put into building huge bonfires and celebrating some geezers attempting to blow up Parliament.

Nothing wrong with being punctual @eddie Sign of professionalism and good manners IMO.

It got to the stage that if I was supposed to be in work for 8:30 am, I would be there at 7:30. Everything has to be 'on time' (i.e. an hour early) - just in case of unforseen circumstances. It drove the memsahib nuts.

It's no more a parody of Pagan worship than Christmas or Easter, and in origin a more significant festival than either, being the Celtic new year.  If you're going to blame anyone, blame the Irish.

As for the commercialism, what hasn't been ruined by that these days.

I bow to your knowledge, may the pooka never piss on your berries!

Clowns. Always hated them, even before watching IT.

Haven't seen the film yet but currently reading the book, which is over 1000 pages and will be the source material for the movie sequels. The way the tension slowly builds is very clever.

Did you like the film?

It scares me that Forest might make it to the Premier League before us. Please God don't let this happen.

@Steve How Hard? scares me............he wasn't very well 10 hours ago.......I hope the Doctor and Nurse gave him a good slap, a bottle of jollop, a bottle of salt to sniff, and a really good shake before making him pull up his socks and advising him to have an early night in bed, so he's right as rain tomorrow!

There was a 1990 two-part TV adaptation which was good & had a phenominal performance by Tim Curry as Pennywise. I saw it again only last week, actually, as it was shown on SYFY channel I think. Worth a watch.

I saw the film a few months ago & did enjoy it. I didn't see it in the cinema mainly due to my fear that the Tim Curry Pennywise couldn't be bettered. I still think his is the better version but the film was good.

For the cinema version they concentrated on the kids in the first film & then will do the adult story next year, where as the TV version did both at once, in flashback.

I did try to read the book as a youngster but found it heavy going. I will have to have another go sometime becasue I have enjoyed a lot of Stephen King books.
