Hill Street Blues. Set the template for many cop shows that followed. Great theme tune too.

Beiderbecke Tapes/Affair. Very dry humour and excellent acting.

The Singing Detective. Was popular/controversial at the time ut I don't think it has ever been repeated. The best TV programme I have ever seen.

Common as Muck. Very funny and poignant and hard to get hold of now,

This life.

It was a BBC2 drama series about trainee lawyers in the 90's, that became a bit mainstream by the 3rd series. It did sum up the 90's however but looks a bit dared now.

A lot of the cast went onto bigger and better things.

Don't know if this counts as a hidden gem but I love 'Nathan for you'. Was on sky/now tv recently. I nearly died laughing a few times.

The season 4 finale ‘Finding Frances’ was some of the best television ever.

Nathan is writing/directing/producing some segments in Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest show too.
