ViewsFromTheMiddle
At that price, it has to be up there as one of the most bizarre signings of all time.
David
Nowhere near the most bizarre signings of all time, ridiculous amount of money yes but with merchandise, TV, Sponsors they, ticket sales and draw in a large number of Asian fans would cover a fair chunk. If Juventus make the most out of the brand Ronaldo it’s a decent deal for both clubs.

Jourdan
If it was any other player at 33, you'd be thinking WTF!?! But this is Ronaldo. He is a mega star, he is the consummate professional, and he always delivers wherever he goes. I'm sure in the colours of Juve, it will be no different. From a commercial standpoint, it is a fantastic move for Juventus because they can tap into Ronaldo's marketability. And for the team itself, it's a big shot in the arm after losing such a key player and a leader like Buffon. The trouble is that this does nothing in a sporting context for Italian football because none of the other major Italian clubs could pull off a deal anywhere close to this. They simply cannot compete financially and this is a sign of the widening gap between the haves and have nots simply getting wider. Take Napoli as an example. Sarri built a fantastic young side, the club had their best season in 28 years, finishing 2nd and topping 90 points. How do they push on from there? Appointing Ancelotti was step one. But then Juve sign Ronaldo and you think to yourself, why did Napoli bother? Napoli are growing but much like the Milan and Rome clubs, they are still years away from consistently competing with Juve and this transfer highlights it emphatically. Who can they sign that will elevate the team in the here and now? It's very hard to see. They have signed two top prospects in Alex Meret and Fabian Ruiz, but they are actually at risk of losing their most influential players. Reina has gone. Jorginho is soon to go. Clubs will return for the likes of Koulibaly, Insigne and Zielinski. I'd love to say this will galvanise Napoli and the rest of the league and Ronaldo's tears will be sweet. But I'd probably end up sectioned. ?
SaintRam
In 4 years they'll easily make a profit on that figure even if they don't win anything.

He is the quickest, most athletic 33 year footballer I've seen. He's still as sharp as he was when he was 21. He still has another 3 years at least at the top of his game. He will smash it in the Italian league, and give Juve a bigger chance of the CL in which they've come close too in the last few years.

Ronaldo is one man, and as good as he is, he is one man in a team game. Serie A isn't much different to other leagues, Bundesliga, if you're not Bayern why bother. Barca or Real, why bother? What made Leicester's title more sweeter is they did it by beating the big boys, outclassed by ability in every position as individuals, but as a team they were better than the lot. Ronaldo might drive the rest of Serie A on a bit more, desire to beat Juventus that bit stronger.
MuespachRam
As a club Juventus value increased by 150 million the say that this transfer was RUMOURED.....!! Imagine what it is like now they have signed him.? financial bargain for the club as a whole and he will do just fine in Serie A, going from one league with only 2 teams in it to a league with only 1. Derbados
The Italian league is weaker than la logs, wouldn’t be at all suprised if he scored 40+ in league and cup next season. Absolute bargain

On one side the pictures do seem to show her looking gooey eyed at him and she went back to his hotel room. The other side is regardless of that no is still no and if its proven he did pay her it doesn't look great. I can see either of two things easily have happened. 1 a spoilt young man used to adulation couldn't quite understand why a woman would spend the evening with him, go to his room and then say no, probably not used to that and forced himself on her. If he did then let's hope he is properly punished. But no 2 could easily be as true, she went back with him, had sex and saw an opportunity to make some money and has come back for more. Can see it going quiet either way sadly. Money will probably make it go away.
MK
This thread of Tweets from the sports editor at DerSpiegel is very interesting. Apparently, they were gathering evidence on the case in 2009, before Ronaldo paid her off. They have the transcript of a Q&A between Ronaldo and his lawyers in which he says "She said 'no' and 'stop' several times". As with all cases there will be lots of evidence from both sides but this thread doesn't paint Ronaldo in the best light.
