I can understand why Liverpool want to ensure players going out on loan are getting games, otherwise they would be better off at Melwood. At the same time if players know a youngster from Liverpool's place in the team is safe regardless of how they perform, that would send out the wrong message to the rest of the squad and especially players in that position.

Not only that but the player needs that as well for himself, going into training giving 70% as he knows he is in the team won't do him much good.

Tricky one, and by all accounts Wilson is some prospect and would likely start anyway without the need of such clause.

Just review each loan in January, not playing recall, that way they have only missed out on 6 months, then blacklist managers from future loans if on review Liverpool don't feel their player was given a fair crack.

Daily Record saying deal to Celtic is off as Liverpool want"hefty" fee if he doesn't play and they cant guarantee anything

The famous Liverpool we want our cake and eat it method - if the player is good enough they will play - what happens when they are not good enough? You end up with a tom Carrol starting games for us when clearly a weak selection in central midfield at precisely the wrong time

On the flip side, we sent Lowe out on loan to Shrewsbury no doubt under the assumption that he would get more game time? right. Do you think that spell in League One helped him? or would he have been better spent here at Derby? I actually think he would have played more if it was the latter.

Liverpool, if they are to send out their young players on loan, just want reassurances that the team is going to play them. I understand :

but at the same time, Wilson wouldn't come here looking to impress our manager/coaches/players - he'll be of the mindset that he's got to be at the very top of his game in order to get Klopp & Co interested. It's going to take more than 70% in order to achieve that.
