Scott Carson - Signed for Man City on loan

That is actually good news all round. one of the best keepers we have had since Poom, had a patch where he had a fair few stinkers and concentration levels and decision making were all over the place.

He had a spell out of the team and clearly battled whatever demons he had and now he is ready for a new challenge.

Man City ain't bad at all.

Roos will end up at Barcelona when he is 38.

Good that he's not coming back?

While I know he's 34 now he's still the best keeper we have under contract at Derby (loan or otherwise) and we're going to have to pay for a keeper now

Can't see us signing Hamer (or wanting to) and Roos isn't good enough - Plus if any of the youth players were expected to step up I would have thought they'd have been given a shout in the cup at some point this season wouldn't they?

Fully agree with this, Carson is the best keeper at the club, we should make him number 1 again with Roos as back up. Can't see us signing better for less than the cost of Carson's wages.

Even if Carson was the best keeper at the club at the start of the season, after a year playing zero competitive games at his age, he's unlikely to be anymore

Are we literally forgetting the 10 or so goals Carson let in before he eventually got replaced by Roos that he should have done a lot better on?

? Lampard wanted a sweeper-keeper and that wasn't Carson - see how good Roos is!

No, not good news that he isn't coming back. He is our best goal keeper and on his day one of the best keepers in the championship.

But, given that Derby think his time with us is over and he will be on a big wage, the fact that Man City want him is win win for everyone.

Carson clearly had some issues whilst with us, which is why his Derby career literally evaporated, but he seems to have sorted himself out and deserves a fresh start.

One of the best 2 seasons ago. Wasn’t even the best at the club last season. He’ll be much worse now after a year of not playing.
Roos has failed to grab the opportunity to be our number 1 keeper, so we’ll be in the market for a new keeper. Ravas may even be chosen as sub keeper if we sell Roos.

So a keeper who wasn't good enough 2 years ago and has got worse, yet is wanted by a club who will have had a bad season if they haven't won 2 trophies and reached the semis in all of the rest?

The same reason that they had Richard Wright and Stuart Taylor, why Man Utd have Lee Grant, Chelsea had Ross Turnbull and Rob Green. They are just English squad fillers to help them with squad quotas.

Although I agree with you to a point, if he's not good enough for the championship then he's not good enough as a sub for Man City either.
